    is this at all possible? what exactly would you need? my mates after going from 3×9 to 2×10…..as cheaply as possible?

    he doesnt use granny ring, nor doesnt use the large ring (but does occasionally for road use)…so ditching the granny ring is an option….

    would it mean next chainset? cassette? etc? or just new front fronts? and also do you go about doing so?

    or alternatevly just 2×9?? guessing then no need for the ten speed cassette etc?

    Why wouldn’t it work?

    And why bother if you want it on the cheap? Save your money for something else if it’s in short supply.

    I run my Five 1×9.

    2×10 is mostly duplication. A 1×10 with a 34T front ring would be pretty spot on. Having said that I’ve had absolutely no issues with 1×9.

    Why wouldn’t it work?

    Issues with pivot/swingarm clearance with chainrings bigger than 36 unless you space them to the outer position…and corresponding wacky chainline.
    You’ll notice orange don’t spec 2×10 (only double and bash).
