In the usual format of me being impulsive and not messing about, this is on its way already

🙂

An alternative would have been to spend the money on a PM and have Zwift control the BKool based on what the PM reports. That way you'd have a PM you could ride outdoors too. Just a thought.

I don't ride outdoors mate, well, I do but not on road bikes. Twice in a year last year. I don't care about MTB power figures at all. So a powertap hub or even a crank or pedal based system would have been pointless.
Mrs Weeksy also swifts so she'll also get accurate data too now

Not tempted by the Tacx Flux, direct drive for a little more money? (if they're even shipping yet... anyone got one?) Could be yet another warranty lottery though!!

Just started on Zwift this weekend. No racing, just riding around getting used to features at the moment.

Best damn Turbo Training I've ever done.

Got the Wahoo Kickr Snap, anyone with British Cycling membership and ordering from CRC, don't forget the 10% discount.

Nice one Weeksy! I'm jealous that you'll have two working turbos! I'm so tempted to order a wahoo kickr instead of the poxy Neo...

Just getting ready to sign in for the 6.35 BRS race

The Bkool is going back to its actual owner, I've only had it on loan for last few months.

I'm really excited to see what happens now as in theory I'm going to be quicker

Checking yesterday and most of today I don't think it will be that much.

My 20 min FTP according to zwift is 280. I'm going to take a guess if this is all correct I should be 330.

I'm all a bit in denial at this stage, but we can only go on both power meters we were using but yesterday on the Garmin pedals 300w on Garmin was about 240_250 on swift.
Today the gap on the video seemed larger but as times was about that too.

50-70w on 300 we're thinking.

We should be close in terms of w/kg now!!!

The first job for the new turbo is going to be an FTP test I reckon 🙂

On the subject of power gains I've just done my first zwift ride on a proper tacx turbo training tyre and its a really noticeable difference-worth considering for the cost. I'm still shaking off a cold so I'm not exactly tip top either..

Cheers for the ride on earlier Weeksy!

Anyone else entering the ZTR race tomorrow at 6:30pm? 1 lap of the mountain 8 course, should be fun....?

I might do the ZTR race tomorrow, I don't think I have done the Mountain 8 route before, although I have done the Pretzel a few times before. On the climb just remember to save a bit of energy for the final climb to the radio mast!

Enjoyed my first KISS(D) race today, couldn't hold on to the back of the lead group and ended up soloing the last lap, had just enough to hold off the chasers.

Legs were pretty tired after a run and a proper outdoors ride at the weekend, so pretty chuffed with the result, something to build on tomorrow. The racing is definitely more fun than the group rides, even ZP results worked for me tonight!

I didn't ride last night after all, part of it was my legs are still a bit achey/delicate. Part of it was thinking "I don't want to ride this turbo any more now, i want my new Wahoo".... I expect i may ride tonight though.

Also did KISS last night, typical, worst race for a couple of months and for once the result actually showed on ZP, first time this year. Spent a couple of hours in the pub prior to the race so probably not ideal prep.

50W is a pretty massive bump, that's gotta be worth at least 10 places on the STW Box Hill leaderboard! Ta for the ride-on yesterday. Maybe we should organise a group ride-on sesh so everyone can get 10 and unlock that achievement 🙂

Rode a few laps of the volcano yesterday, thought it was pretty good, they missed a trick with the environment though. Could've made it a lot more dynamic with lava splashing around, bubbling pools, maybe a dragon or something! Having said that I didn't have my iPad so was using my phone, could've just missed all that stuff!

Well, I've got another cold. Half the office are coughing, sneezing & spluttering so it was inevitable.
I sacked off riding last night to see if it got any worse overnight; it didn't so I might ride tonight instead, but try to take it easy...

I've almost got all the bits together for a second road bike, so once that is going I'll probably get a dedicated trainer tyre for the current road bike & keep it permanently on the turbo.

Spent an hour & a half the other night swapping my 'dumb' trainer over so my Wife could use her mountain bike on it (adaptors for different wheel sizes) & putting a suitable tyre on the bike - at her request, this is....
Asked her a few times if she wants me to show her how to use it & get on/off it without falling off. Nope. Now it's done & ready for her whenever she wants, she's shown zero interest. I even cleared an area of the garage to site it permanently so she hasn't got to drag her bike out & set it up.
My prediction of 3 uses before losing interest seems wildly optimistic now!! 😆

The simple facts were...

It's not actually my turbo... it's on perma-loan
It's clearly not right...
If it's not working properly, there will come a time it's not working at all.
If it means Crosshair is just a little bit scared... it's worth every penny.

Hell, if i CAN actually go out and put out 320w without killing myself, it will also mean i'll be racing at Hillingdon with CH and Nath 😉

It's been a long long time since you handed me my arse on a plate but it's not unheard of 😉
You deserve it if you are that fit- you've certainly been pushing the watts 😀
I'm not too worried about Hillingdon though- my bike handling is better than yours 😉

In other news, I'm sacking off structured intervals in favour of the dynamic workout of a KISS race around the Fig.8 if anyone is playing? I'm racing in the B's....

LOL one time mate, it just so happend that i was training hard and you'd had 4 months off the bike, after that, you got your stuff together and wiped the floor with me continuously.
I don't believe for a second i'll be beating you on Zwift/real world. But i'm certainly hopeful that i'll be closer than i have been in a while.

You could bring your bike over tonight and i could race the 18.30 Mountain 8 race with ZTR and be back home in time for your race 😀 That way we'll know if it's all just dreaming or not 🙂

I don't have a BC licence or anything at this stage Nath so i need to speak to Imperial to ask a few questions.

The worst, i can be off the back by turn 2 and lapped eleventy 7 times in your race distance being a road-block to everyone !

I didn't have one for the first race (where I watched), but then went home and did the application. For the second raced I just printed off a temp one from the BC website. Once you've paid I think it's ready on the same day.

Food for thought - TBC on the racing thread 🙂

Don't think anyone's organised a race on it yet but I did a few laps of the Volcano course last night (not done the volcano flat route but I think it's very similar to the existing flat route).

I enjoyed it, it's a short course, fairly flat with a short climb on it so I reckon it will suit me for racing (very similar to London Classique). The last bit is up a 5% ish gradient so it will make sprint finishes a bit more interesting!

Bit of a missed opportunity re. the scenery though.

I've seen comments mentioning a currently blocked-off route up the actual volcano itself, so possible this is something they'll bring in later.

Apparently 5 laps of the Volcano route = 1,000 xp.

there's an achievement for it, so you can only do it once obviously. Dunno how many XP it equates to (I assume all the achievements are the same?) Theres also one for 10 and 20 laps.

It's all my fault, since I finished my free trial and signed up it's been shit.

Starting to wonder about other platforms TBH, I have pretty hectic work/life/kids club schedules and organising schedules around the various Zwift events is going to be a PITA if they then aren't available. Twice out of four times now......

completed my first trip up the mountain and up to the radio tower with a 5.30 ZHR up and down race!
WOw thats a long way up!
I'm hoping it has been succesful, as 2 minutes after I crossed the line zwift started going all funky, no riders names were being displayed and some really bag lag happening, I logged out and it took ages to close down. Hopefully all is not lost!

Either way for me, was still a good ride though. Had made some bike adjustments and feeling more comfortable.
Swapped out for a 30mm shorter stem and also fitted a ISM saddel after reading about them on another thread. Made a big difference to bike comfort for sure, I can really recommend the ISM saddle allready to anyone getting "numb bum" syndrome!

Me too jim - was glad to have completed the ZHR race, but some results would be nice after all that!

Ride was showing as (partial) on the zwift website, and I was able to manually upload the .fit file to strava so hopefully results will turn up eventually on zwiftpower.

From a purely selfish POV it makes me very nervous that Zwift just won't be able to scale to meet it's growth in popularity.

WEEKSY I want my £8 back. You sold me into this Zwift thing and its rubbish. Never works. Useless.

Its really messed with my training plan and my HR data is all wrong now. Probably I'll come 145th in that sportive instead of 140th as a direct result of this evenings missed training. I'm going to have to do some extra mindfulness to get over this disappointment.

top right of your strava page is a small + sign
tell it to upload a file, then select "from file" then choose the .fit file from documents/zwift/activities

Well done Nath!
I had what felt like my first proper race in ages. The turbo, the bike, the pm, the road feel and the intensity all felt super smooth too!
I think it was a great crit-sim.

Got beat in the sprint by my team mate though 🙁

That hurt
Just finished KISS race, as usual I got stuck in no mans land between groups but at least this time I had one other rider with me, although he played the game better a mugged me on the last climb after taking the benefit of me bridging a 20s gap.
FTP is back was 240 again so I reckon the 270 a few weeks back was a Zpower blip, now I'm on a smart trainer.
Good work on the volcano nathb! The section itself is a bit disappointing and shows up the poor graphic quality (I'm sure the original Halo was better 15 years ago).

Nice race @CH

Just a bit @weeksy! I think the differences are the Tacx smoothing the numbers more than the Stages? Or my lumpy pedalling...

Really had to drag myself onto Zwift this evening, I'm not even commuting this week as I'm waiting for the correct size bearings for my rear wheel..

I got on later too - bimble round the volcano 'til I got some big points bonus and then pretty much gave up (was the bonus for "x" laps or something? Can't have been for massive pace, unless it was for setting a new best effort by 10% or something)

I'm staying off it mostly as i'm an IT nerd so it's not like i do manual labour... but it's proper painful when i move/stand. Do i start easing back into it once it feels 'almost' right, or wait until i don't get any twinges of pain at all from it... I don't know really.

Bloody typical!
Got a cold so didn't ride on Monday; waiting to see if it got any worse.
It was no worse yesterday, so rushed home, waited 'til I'd put my daughter to bed and then a whirlwind of getting changed & sorting my stuff out....

Into the garage - Wi-Fi extender not connecting to the internet for some reason......faff around trying to work out what's going on, get it working, attempt to log into Zwift......nope....it's not working....

GAH! Screw this, I'll go and watch some telly instead.....pack everything away & just as I'm about to go inside the house, Zwift loads up & starts......balls!!

Gonna have to start getting the laptop set-up as soon as I get home I think & have Zwift logged in before I am actually planning to ride....
