  • XTR FD 952 front mech – good for 48t big ring?

    I’m looking for one [see ad in classifieds] but it needs to work with a 48 big ring [+ 10sp chain]

    would that work?

    I vaguely recall using a FD950 with a 26/28 – 48 XTR chainset back in the day,but not sure that would do it’s thing using a 10sp chain as well as the 952 which was 9sp.

    It’s going on a roadified mtb – currently 34/48 with a DA double front mech [which works a treat] but I’m gonna bolt a 26t inner back on for a bit of Spring touring.

    TIA if anyone has a clue.

    I know the top swing dual pull XT front mech (9spd mega) is good for 48T, along with one of the Deores. I didn’t think any of the others were.

    If in doubt email the Madison tech guys…….

    …….mostly you will get the correct answer, but just in case you do not, save the e mail and take them to task if they were wrong.
