Ok just thinking out loud here so don’t rip my head off.
What if someone were to set up another auction site but catering solely for the UK or better still just to the cycling fans would anyone use it/trust it?

There have been others most noticeably QXL.

Though the bottom line is where will you get the most for your product, where lots look, or just a few. That’s why the king is king.

Good point rich, but it just amazes me that its “that site” and only that site people use why isn’t there more??

Yahoo used to have an auction site which folded.

There have been lots of others too.

Ime what kills the sites is the lack of buyer traffic and therefore low prices, which in turn drives away the sellers.

Having said that there are lots of specialist sites eg. Fine wine, art, philately which thrive. But they all offer rare quality stuff.

I wouldn’t say that a 2nd hand bike/parts auction site wouldn’t work, but remember you’d have to offer something that eby doesn’t offer, and as time goes by they sharpen up their act.

    Difficult competition.
