winter socks

hi all.
im looking to get myself an early xmas pressie from the kids and want some warm socks,not got barrel loads of money so kinda on a budget,
seen dhb socks on wiggle at £8.50 and endura baa baa for just short of £10,anyone any ideal if these would suit for a few hours cycling in the nice fresh scottish mornings.thanks for any advice.

Just got a pair of sealskinz for my b’day. Not used them yet but my bro has had a pair for a few years and swears by them.
Don’t ask me about cost as they were a pressie.

Baa baa’s are to thin for winter, I feel. Wooly bully’s what yer want.

Your biggest problem is that warmer/thicker socks in your normal shoes can end up restricting circulation and making your feet even colder.

got a few pairs of both, 3 or 4 years old too, last ages.

ah druidh that would make sense,i sometimes wear 2 pairs and my feet are cold,i do have dodgy circulation so not sure what to do.

hainman, is it worth trying 1 pair decent socks eg smartwool and then overshoes?

Plumb Centre do a set of 3 thermal socks for £5.10 seem fine to me.
You can get gloves and a hat to match aswell.

Sealskins thermal/waterproof ones are alright. Only problem is they are so think they cut your blood supply to your toes off, unless you have winter shoes a size bigger than usual.

fontmoss i’ll give anything a bash,not nice when you come of your bike and cant walk properly when your feet are like ice.i was going to buy the aldi over shoes but never bothered,might try and go round the local shops tomorrow and see if any have some left,

I use woolie boolie socks and goretex oversocks.

I just bought a pair of woolie boulie’s for the frosty mornings and seal skinz for the wet mornings 😀
