Thinking of doing some of this in April. Probably got about a week of supported riding with a mate. Would do about 100 miles a day. What part would people recommend? Any accommodation recommendations as well.

Kerry down to cork or just Connemara, however 100 miles a day is quite a task – heavy roads, climbing, coastal winds, rain in April all would be a big factors and you might not actually see much as you fire along!
You also have to get to it which may influence where you start it from – if you’re catching a ferry from Uk there little point driving from say rosslare to the north when you could get to cork far more easily.

Driven a fair bit and it’s all pretty good. It’s properly wild though. As above 100m a day is quite a lot in one go. You’ll also miss a lot of the reason for the route which is to link up a number of stunning bits of coastline. You do need to pop off the road occasionally to enjoy it. The north end is probably the quietest.

Okay so not fixated by the 100 mile quota, could easily settle for 100km instead. I was thinking of starting from Cork and then heading north. Are their good campsites? Are B and B’s a better bet. Is it fiendishly expensive as rumoured or basically much like the UK?

Friends of ours went north to south on it last year and carried a tent and didn’t spend a night under canvass – b&bs are plentiful, campsites less so.
Somethings are a bit more expensive – restaurants can be a bit but there’s plenty of decent places that are cheap tldr it’s not particularly bad.

North from cork would be a good bet because you’d get to ride a lot in Kerry which is superb and you would be doing the Ring if Kerry in the opposite direction to all the coaches. The climb up Com an Easpaig will be a particular joy but the descent into Portmagee will be a very, very high speed blast (good food there at The Moorings or head on to The Point at Renard)! Kerry is very good for tourists, pubs accommodation and food all plentiful. A few decent bike shops but high end or complicated stuff is harder to find / fix so odd spares; spokes or brake pads may be harder to source.
We ride a fair bit in south Kerry and have always been fine with carbon road bikes and 25c tyres but we are on unladen day rides. The roads used to have a bad rep, but are usually pretty good, certainly on a par with here. Decent waterproof jacket would be a given in April also Easter is in April so that may make things busier.
