What you’ve got there is track ends, not horizontal dropouts.

In addition to above, consider Surly – Steamroller has track ends, Crosscheck has horizontals. As with above, they’re steel though.

If you want Alu then choice is probably a bit more limited – look at track bikes perhaps?

got a steel one, feels a bit dead and heavy, want something stiffer
track bikes are fair enough but I have 130mm wheels not the 120mm you need for track frames

nowt to do with me but there’s a kinesis convert 2 with horizontal dropouts on the classifieds for under your budget…

Pearson have a couple of nice looking alu frames with horizontal drop-outs. eg Pearson Touche http://www.pearsoncycles.co.uk/store/product/24681/Pearson-Touch%C3%A9-Frame-Blue-52cm/
    Or Pearson Once More http://www.pearsoncycles.co.uk/store/product/36398/Pearson-Once-More…-Frame-480/
Though not sure what hub width they use.
What hubs have you got now? Maybe they can be respaced.

Convert is too big, but thanks
I’ve seen those Pearson frames, that’s what the picture is above, but they’re not in until December

WTF is the Pearson 10 goal about? Not sure if I hate it or want one. Having said that it looks like it’s got a gear hanger so may be more ameanable to 130mm hubs. Mrs has a Pearson hanzo and it’s a nice bike and they are a very freindly shop, so should be able to profer advice, but fairly sure it is 120mm – maybe a new wheel / hub might open your options up at not much more cost

If you can stretch to £390 you can get a complete bike; alloy frame with track ends…

They also offer the frame on its own.

I think I may be able to take spacers out to reduce the rear spacing but would still rather a 130mm frame.
would rather spend the money on a better frame rather than a full bike.
Giant Bowery doesn’t float my boat.
doesn’t seem to be much out there!

Why not get a 531 older frame and spray it if you want steel?

You might be a bit stuck – track ends are almost always 120mm on road (or track) frames. Horizontal dropout frames come in 130, 132.5 and 135 but they tend to be steel.

On the convert website they still say the fixed option is 120mm, tbh I think you’re a bit scuppered in your 130mm choices

kona paddy waggon. not sure of the rear spacing. Nice geometry, steel, think you might find a frame only option, particularly their high end model from 2010

    thanks for the comments.
to confirm, this is for a fixed road bike with drops and I am looking for an aluminium frame with track ends and forks (preferably in black, or grey).
