not being a local native in these parts – anyone have any ideas where i cantake the Mrs for a swish meal and night away in the North West?

She’s due to drop our second child in April so this could be our last chance for a nice night away – somewhere nice and quiet and swish.

    Any ideas?

The Plough at Lupton? Run by the same team as the Punch Bowl in Crosthwaite, so it should be good but have no direct experience.

If you really want to push the boat out, go to Nutters’. Not sure where you’d stay though.

Went L’enclume last weekend for Mrs B’s b’day. FANTASTIC but 1 arm + 1 leg needed (not on the menu) 🙂

Inn at Whitewell has my vote again – been their lots, great food and the log fires are a must

http://www.sawdays.co.uk has some AMAZING places to stay – if you cant find somewhere decent on there, then nothing decent exists. tried and tested 🙂
but some can be on the pricey side 😯

The Grosvenor hotel at Pulford, not far from Chester is very good. It has a spa which the Mrs might appreciate, and it has a decent restaurant.
It was my hotel of choice when I was near Chester for work. Not too expensive either.

Jaffjoff, take your road bike and head straight out of the front door. It is only half a mile of riding but it is as steep as you like and the views from the top over the Trough are spectacular. Alternatively take the proper bike up Salter Fell which is about 10 mins drive away

Pfft, it gets this far and no one mentions the Oxo Tower? When I posted a similar thread it took all of 5 minutes before it popped up.
