Where’s all the singletrack gone? I’ve just been up there after a few years and it’s all wide estate roads. Broad Way was still fun but nothing else is left. What’s good up there now? What’s the go to loop now? Anything good and legal left or is it all cheeky now?

Presume you mean Hexhamshire Common then? I’ve not known it when it’s been anything other than estate roads. Bolts Law/Edmundbyers Common is my go-to in that area. There’s not a great deal of decent singletrack in that area that I know of, cheeky or otherwise, and what’s there needs a good bit of road to link it up. Would love to be informed otherwise though!

Got bulldozed to allow gin-fuelled toffs to go and blast defenceless birds to smithereens from the comfort of some 28-days later-esque truck.

Was a thread about it a few months ago.

Bugger, I cut my MTB teeth there in the early 90’s. Can’t remember anything particularly techy but the open spaces & singletrack around there were sublime. (this was before there were any ‘no cycling’ signs up)
Ladle Well, Sinderhope Carrs, Harwood Shield, Stobb Cross, all memorable names. We even used the track up from Baybridge to Riddlehamhope without any issues but it was always ‘cheeky’.
    Happy days.

Yeah, I mean on the common. There’s still some good stuff, but a lot of it has gone. Bit sad really. Edmundbyers it is then!
