  • What one thing made you smile the most this week?

My cousin turned up quite unexpectedly Fri evening to take me for a few jars at his local.
He drove over in his Porsche 997 GT3…a trip down a few dual carriageways, a 10 mile section of M4 and a few very quickly taken roundabouts had my head pinned back on the headrest and grinning like an idiot. Quite incredible really. It was a little like a dream fulfilled as I had a poster of a 911 on my bedroom wall 30 years ago…I think I would kill myself if I had one though!

Just a little thing, walking across campus and smelling the trees… Everything’s waking up, I’m not really a fan of spring- bloomin weeds everywhere! but some days, you can’t help it. You know when the smile comes, but there’s a whole massive rush of emotions and thoughts that comes along right behind it? That.

I was out on the HT today & actually smiled at a chaffinch, singing it’s little heart out. Lovely.

Signed up for Spotify Premium and then downloaded Spotimote to my Hudl. Now sitting on the sofa, and not having to get up to change music, zipping through West Coast Pop Art Experience, hmmm what next

Ran 10k on Monday. Two teenage girls ran the other way, maybe 13 years old. We all did opposite loops and then they ran out in front of me running the same way. Both of them sped gazelle-like away from me while chatting away happily and quickly left me stood. I ran after them sweating like a pig and really, really struggling to do the same pace.

A bloke walking his dog saw this and nearly weed his pants laughing at how slow and shit I was. And just to point out, I can do a 50 minute 10k.

2 weeks away on nightshift, then I come home to find that my year-and-a-bit old son has learned a) to run, and b) to do so whilst aiming at me and shouting “Daddy!”

I put my summer wheels on my roadie, it proceeded to rain halfway round one of my loops and I couldn’t have cared less. 😀

The 2 ducks at the office (pond). They just mill about together like a proper old couple. He arses about in the water whilst she just sits there all “meh”.

Never more that a few feet away from each other.

Our dog pulling my missus to the front door of my daughters house even though she’d only been there once before (The Dog, that is).
We weren’t even parked close to the house.
    Amazing, their recollection.

Skylarks or more exactly hearing them sing, how something so small can make such a fantastic sound whilst flying is incredible.

A work colleague, a fit, pretty girl in her mid-20s, related a recent instance of being oggled at the gym by a member of staff whilst doing squats. And his cunning ruse to remain inconspicuous as he drooled over her reflection in the mirror? Absently hoovering a lone kettlebell.

While driving to work on Thursday, I pushed in the clutch just as a massive hot fart erupted but came out frontwards tickling my balls as it vented to atmosphere.

For a few seconds I felt like a dirty boy, but it made me giggle all day.

My 5 year limped over to the settee and said she had a broken leg. My 3 year old said “I’m a doctor I can help,I’ll just get my stethoscope” 😯 She then listened intently to big sister’s chest and proclaimed “You have a mouse in your tummy”

Whenever someone cracks something for the first time. Whether it’s riding a bike, finding the balance point on a handstand, working out how fractions work…. when I see someone have that lightbulb moment it always makes me smile.

This week it was my youngest daughter at basketball. They’ve got a couple of really good coaches but where she’s only just 8 and in with the miniballers, they don’t do much advanced stuff. However due to start of school hold a few kids were away this week, so she got a bit of 1:1 time with a coach teaching her the footwork and backboard angles for lay-ups. After a few mins the aha! moment arrived, and she’s now shooting lay-ups like a pro. Albeit a pro that’s 2 1/2 feet shorter than your typical pro 🙂

On the advice of the women in the pet shop we got our cats from, we’ve just bought them a laser pen. Hours of fun! This morning the girls were on the sofa in their oneseys, having a great old time getting the cats pouncing on, and chasing the red dot on the carpet around the room. The cats were having a right old time of it too. Simple things 🙂

Took my 7 year old to Matlock Farm Park yesterday and they had some very little lambs doing the whole jumping thing – how could you not smile at that?

Few more months and they’ll be ready – bonus!

+1 for laser pen plus cat(s) plus laminate floor.

With correct application of a laser pen you can get one of mine right to the top of the curtains 😀

using my volume pedal option on my boss ME-25 for the first time (guitar).

just addicted to it now (can do those violin swells you hear in classic albums now).

seriously if you select a high gain amp mode you just need one note then the magic of the pedal makes you sound bloody awesome 8)

am going to do a video of my volume pedal/numpty noodlings as proof of it’s magic (just need to buy a silk kimono now/and a long hair wig 😉

Forth Fat. A classic weekend of old school fat biking along the coast of East Lothian. Lots of stops to take in the views, landmarks and banter.

My (cheapy) road bike is out of action so a mate lent me his pinarello for the club run this morning. Smiling for 70 miles even through the strong headwinds. Never realised what a difference a decent bike can make.
