Want to change the chain ring to an oval, the wheels are boost so I assumed I’d need a boost chainring until I read this on Superstar’s website

Boost rear hubs are 3mm per side wider than standard. Some manufacturers use a special Boost chainring to move the chainline outwards 3mm to match this, others use standard offset chainrings with a special Boost crank. You need to find out what crank offset type you have and choose the correct model ring to suit.

We offer Boost model chainrings to convert standard cranksets to Boost fitment. If you have Boost offset cranks you select our standard chainrings.

My cranks are “Sram X1 Carbon Eagle™ DUB 32T”

Do I have boost crank or a boost chain ring?

Superstar now do 3 chainrings, zero offset, normal and boost!

Chainrings are currently on offer at Superstar for £19 with code UK35

The sram direct mount cranks use different chairing offsets for normal and boost configurations. The normal ones are listed by sram as having a 6mm offset and the boost ones have a 3mm offset. So, if you have a boost rear wheel I’d guess you would want a boost chainring from Sram or superstar for the best chain line and frame fit.

If you existing chainring is a direct mount SRAM ring the offset is usually stamped on the inside of the ring.

DUB still allows for two different offsets for Boost and Non-Boost. So you need the 3mm offset rings, or otherwise known as Boost.
