Not sure if someone normally starts these, but given I’ve just got back from a cheeky Friday day-off-work-ride., I thought I’d start it 🙂
First ride in about 3 months…..
I got dropped off in the middle of nowhere*
Stopped to tweak a couple of bits
Spot of smog from the Staffs moors fires
Never seen it so dry up above Castleton
Made it down Cave Dale in one piece without stopping 🙂
Steady up
Sun holding out still!
Smoke from Staffs fires & clouds getting angry before final descent, bimble back to Hathersage and coffee whilst waiting my pick up 🙂 No way was I riding back over to Sheffield – was absolutely smashed after 4+ hours
Annoying re pics.. they might show now as I’ve set them to shared. Might have to look into alternative hosting as it’s getting more of a pain to post from Google photos.
Classic gap ride. We do this 27th December every year and it’s always a bit of a death march through the snow/ice/hail/wind.
Today it was just lovely 🙂

Didn’t take many pics as forgot my camera and couldn’t be bothered to get the phone out. But we got round a lot quicker than winter and had no ice to worry about riding down the gap. And for the first time ever, we managed a pint in the pub by the canal on the way back to Tal-Y-Bont.
As we packed the van, the forecasted rain came down. So a good day all round 🙂
Finished my weekend off yesterday evening with a bit of trail pruning ..
It wasn’t meant to be so..with the planned ride from Kielder Dam car park to do a circular up to Monkside aborted due to monsoon conditions as soon as I got there ..unbelievable !
I turned around and headed back south towards Bellingham and then over to Dunterley Fell into a section of forest near to Watson’s Walls ..where I had a good session with my Bacho Freelander hand saw trimming some overgrown branches ..
You’ve got to give a little back every now and then …timed to perfection when I got back to the car with the first drops just starting to fall ..
Eldest_OAB spent Saturday lapping the uplift at Innerliethan with a pal; mrs_OAB and middle_OAB a local roady/track ride at Inners.
I spent the weekend tearing the house apart following our plumbing leak a couple of months back, so pulling ceilings down and ripping up floorboards to get at electrics and plumbing… 🙁
