I’m on the list because I tried the explorer on, on a whim, and really liked it so decided to buy one – it is being paid for with an inheritance too. I also like nice watches, they’re the only jewellery, bar a wedding ring, i wear.
At retail it won’t be that expensive and i’m not really fussed about concerns around self driven exclusivity, isn’t that more a limited production capacity v global demand rather than rationing supply. Lots of desirable things have wait lists, Mrs kilo waited about a year for a one of her road bikes to turn up from order to completion
I also have other nice watches and i’m not entirely sure it’ll actually replace my current rolex which has strong sentimental attachment for me , so the wait list doesn’t really bother me. My current rolex, i’ve owned for thirty plus years, it’s accurate, reliable, I worked hard to get it and I love wearing it. (I also drive crap cars, usually costing under 3k, have cheap motorbikes (although seem to have four of them now) don’t spend a fortune on clothes, not fussed about luxury holidays etc so watches are a bit of an exception for me.).
Perhaps strangely i’ve never got the love for Omega Seamsters.
