I started a thread a while back asking how hard it is to retrue a road wheel (16 spoke, straight pull ultegra) as I couldn’t sort mine out.

Eventually took it right apart and checked the rim – totally true, despite the 16 spokes and me being a chubber in roadie terms.

However, I’ve just noticed that the axle’s bent 😳 🙄 and “WTF?”

The shimano doc suggests that part no for the axle is Y21C03100

What I can find is at SJS – axle rebuild kit but not certain it’s compatible as is a different number and doesn’t name individual bits (and I don’t really need bearings/nuts etc)

Does anyone know it’s OK and/or whether I can get just the axle ? (my poor googleage says no) – please

Anyway googling the code suggests it an utterly std 9mm threaded QR axle.

Yeh – that’s what I thought (though lengths seem a bit variable)
Went kerrrrrazy and ordered a dura-ace one

(how often do road axles bend then Al ?)

I’ve never seen a front axle bend (spent a few years in the trade) and don’t comprehend it but am told it happens.

Is it alu or steel?

EDIT a decent LBS could have got the answer for you pretty quickly.

Wheels manafacturing do lots of after market and very good hub parts

Shimano do even more 😀
