UK Made Bar & Stem

About to build a new bike and would love to buy a UK made bR and stem. Renthal it seems make bars in Asia.

Can anyone recommend a UK manufactured bar? Are Burgtec bars mad in the UK?

Define “UK made”. Does it mean everything from mining the ore to anodising the finished product, or just one or two steps in between? Or, for carbon, does the carbon itself have to be UK made, or are the raw materials imported and put together in the UK?

Not used them myself but Hope bars & stems are UK made.

I thought Renthal had a factory in Manchester?

Far as I am aware the only people making bars in the UK is Hope. Unless you want some welded steel brace things. But that doesn’t matter, because the Hope bars are amazing!

Kingdom bikes are Danish and made in China (source). Weirdly though, I used to think they were UK for some reason..

The Hope stem is my favourite that I’ve owned, if that helps.

Are those Rust bars made in the UK? I can’t see anything on his site. Seems to do the ano and etching though.

Dougie lampkins tour of Renthal video seems to show the alloy bars are made there in Manchester along with the chainrings.

Just had a watch of that, nice setup they have! Etching and bending Moto bars by the looks of it, and testing MTB bars. Will see if I can find out what they manufacture.

There’s a small (1 man band) company based out there in Wales called Unite components that has started making bits and bobs.. Pretty sure I saw a stem of his on instagram a while back if its any help?

Burgtec stems, pedals etc definitely made in house think carbon bars too. Unite just dumped this distributor to go direct to dealers. Not UK made but Zee Germans brand 77Designz are very nice

Renthal used to get the mountain bike bars made elsewhere- they made the motorbike bars in house but the pushbike ones needed different hardware that they didn’t have. They might well have changed that since though.

I had read somewhere that Renthal were made in Asia for MTB bars. If its changed I may give those a go.

The Burgtec bars don’t mention anywhere that they are made in the UK. they used to make a big thing of it.

I thought Rental Alu bars were UK made but not the carbon.

If they are not, I don’t know if anyone other than Hope making bars in the UK, as I thought Burgtec & Rust were made abroad.

Take your pick stem wise though, there are loads as have been mentioned already.

Renthal’s only overseas production in their main product lines (i.e not things such as grip covers, glue, chain lube) are carbon mtb bars (Asia), and motorcycle chains (Italy). Alloy bars and stems are made in Stockport and grips outsourced to another UK manufacturer.

I did a hope factory tour a few years ago with a mate who’s one of their dealers. It was when they were trying to develop a handlebar. They had a rig set up and were testing competitors bars. The chap doing the tour, Adrian one of the directors told us that there were no aluminium MTB bars produced in the uk as no one had the machines to create the central bulge. At the time the MTB bars were the only thing Renthal didn’t make in Stockport as they didn’t have the equipment, I guess moto bars aren’t as heavily bulged / tapered. This was a good 6 years ago though and things may have changed. I believe Hope do make their carbon bars in house now.

USE Bars and stems are UK made, the Boom bars are great.

The reason is that they used to be in the UK, then they moved. I think you can let yourself off!
