with the oncoming situation, thinking whether i should get a turbo specific tyre. having shredded light weight tyres previously is a conti gatorskin going to stand the abuse or will it be fine?

Standard tyres last okay on a turbo but the turbo squares off the tread so you can’t really use them again on the road.

But, if its an old tyre anyway then who cares.

Just use old tyres, the heavier the better.

    I bought a 700×35 TACX one, it’s lasted 2 years without issues.

I’ve always used old tyres that were too worn to use on the road. Would last a couple of years of heavy use before looking sketchy.

The main reason I’d go for a trainer tyre is if the turbo was in the house (mine is in garage). It does seem to put out some black tyre dust that might not be ideal for the carpet.
