TRP gears and brakes, anyone tried these?

I filmed this in my LBS on Wednesday on a Norco FS. Looked and felt awesome on the static bike (customers so I couldn’t have a pedal on it). Not seen the shifter and rear mech before. Has anyone tried them out in the wild?

I’ve got the budget Slate Evo brakes on my HT and they work fine for not much money

The DH-R ones in the video are supposed to be very good but getting up there with the rest price wise

Which leads me to another thread about pads….

Tricky market to get into, most brands try to release budget stuff to compete with the big two, but these are not cheap

I’ve got TRP Hylex brakes on my SS road bike and a Hylex/Hyrd combo on my cross bike. I’ve been really impressed, much more reliable than Shimano’s hydraulic road brakes and feel much nicer too, although that is subjective

I’ve got TRP Slate (non EVO) brakes on one bike and they’re awesome. I wish I’d bought more when they were cheap at Merlin.

Gears look bling so that’s half the battle won!

G-Spec quads of yesteryear are mmmm especially when updated with braided hoses and bled noicely

I guess most people will know, but just in case, TRP is Tektro Racing Products. They’ve been doing drivetrain parts for about 5 years now in a pretty lowkey way, weirdly they started out with a 7-speed downhill set, but it’s sort of 2-pronged as Tektro also do various cheaper drivetrain options, they do a bunch of really pretty sensible 9 10 and 11 speed options, I put a Gemini setup on my brother’s hybrid and it’s at least as good as equivalently priced Shimano (and SRAM didn’t really seem interested in that market at all)

My son has the trp dhr brakes , the same golden ones as in that pic and they are incredible. Lovely lever feel, loads of power and the quality is top notch.  I’d buy them again without hesitation. He’s had saints, Magura mt7 and sram codes before and says these are way better.

I’m tempted by the drivetrain as well but like you I haven’t been able to test one and it’s a fair bit of cash to spend blind.

I’ve no idea on the TRP components in the video up there, but I’ve got TRP Spyre brakes on my Genesis CDF gravel bike and I rate them very, very highly.

In fact, and being a complete Hope FanBoi, I’d spec them on my next gravel build over Hope. The Spyres work so well, and I’ve yet to have to faff with them, that I’d question whether I need anything more.

I keep eyeing up the TRP DHR brakes as an upgrade for my SLX.
Nearly the price of hopes which were going to be my brake upgrade of choice. But I am leaning away from Hope due to dot fluid and the bleed procedure.

TRP Hyd Rd brakes on my gravel bike. Other than a pad change they’ve needed zero maintenance in 6 years and they just work.
