Morning all, we are flying for the 1st time next week with a 5 1/2 month old – any tips/ hints welcome.
It’s not clear from EasyJet site – do we need to let know in advance of pram and car seat? All I can find is we are allowed 2 pieces of equipment but no indication of advance booking for them.
We plan click and collect milk from Boots, but will we get through security with premade bottles or powder? plan have big box powder in hold luggage for when get to destination but thinking if emergency bottle needed.
Finally – do you usually leave pram/ seat with large luggage check in? if so will need keep carrier out of luggage to transport him through airport.
    Thanks, Niall

We have done this a few times with Easyjet.

I don’t remember having to inform them that we were taking the Buggy.

Every time we go the check-in machine (or whatever it is called), we have to call an assistant and explain to them that the buggy should be free, they then print a sticker for it somehow. We then have to take it to the oversize baggage drop.

Not sure about the milk stuff because we didn’t use formula.

Buggy is the key word here, a folding buggy can go right to the gate, a full-blown pram would have to be checked in.

I know you can take some milk through, think it might have to be pre-mixed though (again, not formula users so didn’t pay that much attention)

You can put buggy straight in hold when checking in or use it to push around the airport then leave it at the steps of the plane, they then chuck it in the hold.

We’ve taken milk through security before, they are pretty relaxed, they might just get you to taste some to prove it isn’t explosive

If you’re on Easyjet then you’ll get to board first as the buggies go in the hold last, so you’ve got them as soon as you get off the flight as they’re first thing on the carousel

At first, this seems like a massive bonus. But given the inevitable crying during the flight it just adds another dimension to the resentment of you and the burning hatred that will be directed towards you by everybody else on the flight

    Have fun! 😀

If you do a boots.com order for the milk, have the store that you collect it from as the airside one and you’re already through security so there are no issues.

This is a good point, if you are not used to travelling with a child, it is always worth asking if you can skip to the express queue (or whatever it’s called), they normally let you.

but will we get through security with premade bottles or powder

We used to take expressed milk through, so I’m sure premade bottles are fine. Not sure on powder though.

Milk is fine – check with your airport security webpage as they differ a bit (Nice let us take a 1l bottle of normal cows milk through a few weeks back – doubt Manchester would have been that helpful!! Although have taken premade bottles through Manc several time).

Take enough to get you through 24hrs without needing hold luggage – just in case… You don’t say where you’re flying to, but don’t count on being able to get nappies or bottle milk or whatever immediately on arrival in the event of your luggage getting lost.

A bottle with water in it will also help with ear problems on take off / landing.

Thanks both, flying to málaga – plan hit supermarket out of airport as is religious holiday next day so nowhere open. Might be able get people at venue do some shopping for us day before hopefully.

Flying out of Newcastle so will check local arrangements and hopefully bring 2 premade with us and pick some up form airside boots. Thanks for tip on water, we’re planning try get him feed on takeoff for his ears popping.

    next week

Still time to get on Ebay/FB market place and pick a cheap pram/buggy. So that doesn’t matter if it gets scuffed/marked and generally abused by the baggage handlers.

    Good luck, have fun.
