“The grass is always greener on the other side. Unless Jens Voigt has been riding on the other side in which case it’s white with the salty, dried tears of all the riders whose souls he has crushed.” 😆

to be fair to the schlecks, the day would have been duller without them.

    Junky, are you stalking me?

No but I feel the need to do make that sort of point everytime you mention Contador. I assume you only make them on TdF threads which I also am interested in.
Once the ruling is out I am sure we can both finally let it go.
My main concern is who gets to be smug you or TJ. It will be unbearable either way 😉
He is a great rider without any doubt. Certainly the most outstanding around at the minute. Whether he is on fire for this I am not sure yet. I honestly dont think he expected to be there so his training may not have been 100%. He will be clean this year and he may still win.
This does not change my view of strict liability nor am I convinced by his explanation.

i doubt he could do it, but Voeckler would attain God like status in France if he did, what a plucky rider, that is commitment and heart and a refusal to give up right there, a true inspiration for all. for this reason alone i’d love to see him win, but a step on the podium would almost be as good

the shlecks are too clinical for me

To Jens Voigt, there is no such thing as a “race day”. Just training days with motorcycles.

I’m also a wee bit disappointed that the main contenders have been effectively marking each other so far.
Thing is, although there have been HC mountains, you’ve got beasts of climbs going on for 20K+ on 18 and 19 and they know that…. they’ll be planning a big move on those, hopefully not waiting until Huez as it’ll end up a stalemate and TT decider I reckon.
Good thing is Alberto is behind by a fair bit, he HAS to attack the shlecks and particularly Cadel, who may match him on the TT

Once the CSC team bus broke down and Jens Voigt had to push it. French police pulled them over and detained the team for more than hour before letting Jens go with just a speeding ticket.

So without turning this into another boring thread, you missed the bit where I said that IF he is banned I’ll accept it, and that it is simply that until he is banned he’s free to compete. It would appear to be you and TJ who are making arses of themselves, I’m waiting for the conspiracy shouts if he’s found clear.
I have already said that I have my own private view on the matter which I might or might not make public. Remember I have worked closely with Spanish cycling federations and know a bit more than you about their workings.
If he wins this year it will reinforce his argument as I assume he’s being watched like a hawk. And I hope he wins, simply to shut the haters up. The one time I met him, he seemed like a nice guy, but beyond that, as a climber myself, I like his climbing style.
What points you feel your going to score will be lost on me. Sorry old chap.

It was quite nice to watch Alberto anticipating the attacks and accelerating a second before. I think he’s still riding within himself and playing a waiting game. He’s also got the Giro card to pull if his result is crap. 😆

Not a chance of Voeckler winning. He is a credit to the race though.
The Schlecks are a pair of fannies. I watched them get royally mugged by Gilbert at this years LBL. I remind you in the closing k’s it was the brothers dim and Gilbert.

Instead of a co-ordinated, consecutive attacks if, for no other reason than to at least put up a fight the dozy duo towed Gilbert up to the line. He was incredulous going over the line.

Same thing today. The pair of them will get raped in the individual TT by Evans, Contador, et all, game over. WTF? Niether of them deserve to win they are feckless.

    Basso FTW.

I dont bring it up I reply when you mention it.

no it wont it wont alter the test result from last year.

And I hope he wins, simply to shut the haters up.

As I said above he is the best rider of the current crop, I am not a hater.

Merak, spot on. I think because AC is under investigation and the rest are being “careful” its a more level playing field with no one screaming off up an alpine climb in the big ring. Tommy V is amazing, give him yellow is better than giving him EPO and being at 60%, the only French man that makes me proud. I do miss Twiggo but he would not attack in the mountains. Evans for the win this year.

Don – the point you seem unable to accept is he has failed a drug test. he cannot be found to be clear.

You can make up all the nonsense you want – he is a proven drug cheat.

I thought you were ignoring me Tandem, put the filter back on. If you think it’s nonsense then clearly you’re a fool.

TJ, Contador was cleared. yes it has gone to appeal but he has been cleared. If he was a drug cheat the ASO could have blocked him they have done it before and i am sure they will do it again.

I actually like the Schlecks, they rode well today although Frank wasn’t quite on it. They were quite right in their interview, they did a few moves but nothing came from it. They only guy in the main contenders bunch who didn’t have to do anything was Tommy so he played a good game today. AC again wasn’t great today, with a 1k to go he should of been on Andy’s wheel or made a move himself. Today proved to Andy that he could ( 3 times up final climb) pull a gap from Contador quite easy. Evans is gutsy but i’m sorry he was dull today and even move around Basso led to nothing. He’s out. Basso is a plodder and will drop plenty of riders with his pace but not schlecks, AC, Evans, Sammy or Tommy ( at this rate). So he’s out.
My money’s still on Andy, he’s looking best so far on the climbs
Again, my biggest issue is that AC doesn’t have a team around him. Tommy is constantly protected, Basso always has at least 1 rider near him, Cadel’s BMC are always near him and team so far is Leopard Trek.
