There;s nothing to explain it when you have sound

The inane drivel of Liggett & Sherwen.
Tejay van Garderen concentrating on turning the pedals there
Yes Phil, he’s doing that to climb this amazing mountain in the Tour de France, the biggest race in this, the sport of cycle racing.

    Great, thanks guys.

We’ve got Pedro Delgado and Carlos Sastre on Spanish TV, they seem to know what they’re talking about…

worse that a flat on the bike it’s a flat inside, porte would just have swapped if it was the bike. Thats what all the hard work earlier was about, Contador is smashed so no worries

    Was that an illegal feed?

Drinks and gels / food. Liggett prattling about potential penalties. What’s that about then?

Why do they say no more food and drinks at a certain point in the stage?

There’s a rule that says you’re not allowed to take on food/water from the cars in the last [x] km. [x] will vary depending on the stage but it’s there for safety reasons to stop cars getting in the way or to stop riders trying to fight their way through the bunch carrying water while everyone is winding up for a sprint.

Sky will probably cop a fair old fine for that.

    Yup, that was awesome.

Incredible finish, great for the French to get one at least. Recognised all those turns through the town, it’s steep on a mountain bike

Hope Froome’s paying attention on how to celebrate a stage win 🙂

Froome could lose the Tour as a result if he does get tome penalties and Quintana eating into his time.

Carlton Kirby is a moron. “They set out the toughest day in the tour de France anyone can remember”. You mean apart from last time they went twice up Alpe d’Huez?

And there’s another brutal day tomorrow, Col du Glandon and Col de la Madeleine plus a couple of lesser hills.

I don’t get why Froome attacked instead of going defensive

Didn’t they attack it from two directions or something? Just not the same road.

From the rules on the Le Tour website:

All riders may render small services to each other, such as lending or exchanging food, drink or accessories. However, the lending or exchange of wheels or bicycles is only permitted between riders of the same team.

No mention of final feeds/drinks and related penalties, but the above indicates any punishment would be for Sky or Porte, not Froome.

They did it 30-odd years ago. Twice in one day but like portly said, not up, loop back then up the same road again.

Ouch. Glandon’s a lovely climb though, and there are a couple of downhill sections to get your breath back.

They have Alpe D’Huez twice in the same tour, but not twice in the same day before i think.

From the Oz coverage Porte will take the penalty for receiving the help from the car.

In the end I don’t reckon anyone saved anything for tomorrow out of the top guys.
