    Hi all,

I was wondering if the singletrack hive mind could help.

Despite biking for a number of years I still haven’t got the hang of this suspension setup malarkey and have likely only achieved a satisfactory setup by luck in the past.

However after having my suspension recently serviced, I’m having trouble making the bike feel anything better than awful at the moment.

Does anyone know of any courses you can take for understanding suspension setup properly?

I’ve seen there are a couple around FOD or Innerleithen but not much else.

    Any help appreciated

Sprung in the FOD do it. I did it a couple of years back with a group and it was incredibly useful. I thought my suspension was pretty good before doing it, but afterwards it was properly balanced and predictable. If you’re nearish the FOD, it’s definitely worth it.

What suspension do you have? Might help work out if there’s likely to be any benefit.

I can sort of see why if someone’s bought their dream bike with full Ohlins or whatever, they might want to go the whole hog and drop almost £400 on a telemetry day https://tweedvalleybikes.co.uk/pages/suspension-set-up-days

This set up video in Pinkbike How to bike series are the best I’ve seen.

Set up note sheet he uses

Six hours of riding being watched closely by someone who also watches Ethan Craik. I think I’d die of shame.

How so? Who serviced it? What suspension is it?

I would guess that a 300 quid course gets you from Ok to fantastic, but you shouldn’t struggle to get it up to pretty good yourself with a bit of thinking and pondering.

Also, feels awful in the car park, or awful on the trail, cause they are very different too.

This is why i’ve not had mine done by him…. I’m not sure i could cope if he says “oh, errrrrrm, lets not bother setting it up, here’s your money back, use it on coaching instead hey”

    😀
