    Can it be done with a chain riveter, as the new chain is to long, and will a speed link work with a shimano chain, istead of the pin.

    Yeah, just split the chain, you’ll need to take a whole link out rather than just split the chain in two. Then stick a speed link in. They should work on any brand chain, just as long as you get the right speed. 8, 9 or 10, then they just clip in.
