Yeah I wear them, got them at the specialized store in bristol. Had 510 freeriders before. Would say the 2fo is a bit stiffer, in a good way. Maybe not quite as grippy as my old 510s.
They dry a hell of a lot quicker than 510 though!

Got both and only ever wear the five tens which are just much more grippy . The only downer is that five ten don’t make a winter boot that is any good . Surprisingly the best place to get Specialized shoes is your local Spesh dealer .

Not as grppy as 5:10, great for pedalling though as much stiffer

I wear them for events and all summer, rest of the time I go for AM41’s which are a bit more waterproof. As already said bit stiffer than some which I like. Got a pair recently from Tredz I think.

Is everyone talking about the new 2.0 2FO? I have the original 2FO but thought the new one is supposed to be grippier

Will be replacing my original 2F0s with a pair of the new ones soon. Probably for the summer. The originals are grippy, but still allow some foot movement, pedal well and dry quickly. Everything I’ve seen and heard indicates that the 2.0 improve on all of that! My LBS has them in stock.

    Oh, and yes, these,

First pair of shoes eldest_oab hasn’t destroyed on a bike on a couple of months.

Echo the much stiffer than 5:10’s.

They reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis. (That’s the only possible excuse I can think of).

Yup. I think most here didn’t read the thread title.. I own the originals and concur with the above statements, although haven’t really found a ‘lack of grip’ with the first gen model. I moved from saints to Mk4 penthouse pedals and that was a significant improvement- so I’m giving that improvement to the pedal. Will be looking to get a pair of the 2.0 next year I think. The improvements seem great according to the info I’ve seen on them so far. Seem to be readily available online. Hoping to catch some in a sale, the rrp is a little steep atm.

Making a large assumption there aren’t you . I read the thread title and commented accordingly . Also I don’t see the extra stiffness of 2fo’s as any kind of benefit given the size of the contact patch flat pedals have . Stiffness is only really any kind of benefit with tiny spd pedals which is not what we are talking about here .

I’ve got a set of the neon yellow ones, only use them for commuting now as nowhere near as grippy or planted feeling as my Impact VXi. I’m using Nukeproof Horizon pedals.

Do these break in to any meaningful extent?

Really wanted to like the originals but found the moulded plastic shell seemed to cause painful pressure points on the sides and top of my feet.

Have some Giro Jackets which are excellent so far, but the Spesh appeal for use with Sealskinz.

Yeah talking about the version 2.0. That is what it said at the top and all That!
I think stiffness does notice/matter with a flat pedal. I have shoes in the past where I could feel the concave of the pedal through the sole and didn’t like it so in my eyes the 2fo 2.0 being stiffer is noticeable and better

Recently bought a pair and very impressed with the stiffness and grip, I use mine with Burgtec’s so very stable and grippy.

And they dry in no time, cant see me going back to 5’10’s as they only last a short time and were heavy and take ages to dry

To a point but I find 5 10 Freerider soles too flexible and they end up hurting my feet on longer rides. They’re my go to shoe for uplift days though because the grip is so good.

I prefer the new Impacts for proper riding because the sole is stiffer but they’re still grippy as. The Giro Jackets I bought were great when broken in but they’re rarely on offer so didn’t replace them.

The Spesh shows look but but I’m concerned about less than great reviews because the grip doesn’t appear to be amazing.
