…and of course, British Cycling is geared up to reap the benefits, there’s somewhere near me in Nottingham where me and a few friends could give it a go right?

Yes, I have tried (and failed) with Google.

I’m guessing Manchester is too far?

Not to give it a go but It’s a bit of a trek if I wanted to take it up regularly isn’t it. And if I know I can’t do it regularly, is there much point giving it a go?

Dunno, I’ve only done one track taster session and enjoyed it, would like to do it again but not the end of the world if it’s not any time soon.

There were plans for one in derby, years of plans. Whatever happened to those? Still happening?

If you MTFU there’s a track at Scunny Quibell Park – outdoor. 😀

I assume you’ve had a look at this, http://www.fixedgearfever.com/, if half of those listed are no longer functioning, then it’s a sad state of affairs.

You’ll need some kit. How about a real GB track bike?
    Its not cheap.[/url]

I can MTFU enough to ride outside. Not sure I can MTFU enough to go to Scunthorpe! 😆

Not something I’d ever want to try… can you imagine being average at it? (and yes, I find myself average at most sports!) Basically, it would then be riding round in a circle, getting nowhere…

I did a one-hour taster session on the Manchester velodrome and really enjoyed it, hoping to go back for more soon 🙂

I believe there is a velodrome at Harvey haddon in billbourgh. May be worth looking into

While you’re waiting for Derby City Labour councillors to stop playing silly beggars and push the button on the Multi Sports Arena (velodrome) why not give Forest Town Track a whizz:

During the summer months I think they run some coaching sessions on Thursday evenings.

Unfortunately the contract was due to be signed the day before the handover tot he conservatives IIRC, who are now pissing about with it IIRC.

Local one’s about to be demolished here as well.

ConDem’s, inspiring ruining it for a generation

[edit] ‘tother way round, ConDems fannied about and refused to sign off on it, now labour seem to be clutching at straws saying they’ll approve it subject to environmental agency consent?

Unfortunately a lot of sports funding in this country goes to elite-level athletes, it does mean that we can win a few gold medals, but all this really does is gloss over the fact that there is very little investment in public facilities and grass-roots sport.

Nope, Derby plans were approved earlier this month, subject to the contractor coming in under the approved budget. 😀

The only downside is it’s a 2 year build
