    That’s the longest thread title I’ve ever composed! Got an SLX 11 speed band on shifter and the gear window thing means I can’t position it properly. Tried taking it off but there are some exposed gubbins underneath. Do blank plates exist for this or is it a case of masking tape and away you go?

    Tried searching but my Google-Fu is weak on this one.

    They do exist, bought an m7000 shifter and cassette for a mate yesterday and there’s a blanking plate in the box with it. SJS Cycles are usually good for Shimano spares (I think it’s SJS), could be wrong on that but they definitely exist. I also have one on my winter hardtail with a bit of gorilla tape instead of the blanking plate which has worked perfectly well for the last 3 years or so

    This one, same as the XT. Not as secure as older designs which had two screws.
