Off to do the Moors 300 in a week. Anyone recommend place to park the van. Happy parking anywhere but if there’s long term parking anywhere?

Engine Shed lane, just where you turn into Rider’s Cycle Centre, about here – http://streetmap.co.uk/map?X=397882&Y=451191&A=Y&Z=115 is a gravel area that people use when doing the YD200 & YD300 You could also turn into the lane and park up by one of the yards, so long as you don’t block any entrances it won’t be a problem. A lot of folk also use Carleton New Road, certainly OK for all day and maybe an overnighter but might attract attention for two nights.

    Presumably you mean the YD300!

You can stick a van on quite a few roads in town pretty safely. DM me if you want a street name (basically, put in on my road if you want).

I personally wouldn’t bung anything nice-looking down Engine Shed – gets pretty quiet down there and it’s a long way from residential.

I’ve noticed different vans being parked up just below Kwik Fit for a few days at a time :-

turns out that it’s still Carleton New Road here as mentioned above.
If you are happy to pay then Coach Street car park allows long term stays (including motorhomes):- https://goo.gl/maps/7rQR8i3yPMeFyjB78

The above are good calls. To be honest, there are very few restrictions outside the town centre so plenty of residential streets with room to park. Sackville Street usually has space as it’s were the market traders usually dump their vans for the day.

Thanks folks yep I mean the YD300! Thanks for offer Martin I’ll probably end up in car park as will be a good few days. We’re in no rush and never ridden round here before so will certainly be slow.

In that case I’d be inclined to leave it where fubar suggest, where all the motorhomes congregate so there’ll always be someone around and your bodywork is less likely to get a ding from a car door as shoppers are less likely to park down there (it’s actually bottom end of Bridge Street car park, but they’re both one of the same). It’s about a fiver a day or £15 for a week.
