We also tracked him down the PinkBike where he’s been banned too. Hopefully if he decides to pop up again Mods will spot him. I’d like to see everyone get a full refund before we think about going any further.

I hope I’m wrong here but why on earth would he suddenly decide to refund everyone?
I suspect it’s just lip service TBH

I’ll be very happy if I’m wrong though

why on earth would he suddenly decide to refund everyone

maybe mention of getting the law involved was enough.

tbh, he coudl be a 14 year old who got carried away – like the kid who was the perp of the Great Hack?

If I’m correct he’s a 16 year old boy. When I caught him out yesterday I assume he realised the next step I would take was police and gave in.

He’s emailed me to say he will refund in 5 days. I guess we’ll see.

I’ll perhaps get his number off you Rosss if he doesn’t, and have a quiet word…

Yeah his wording was very convincing, Thanks what got m,however not impossible for a 16 year old to do.

Reggie he told me he was transfering the money back to his PayPal immediately and refunded me last night. Make sure you keep on to him.

There seems to be a lot of you who have been scammed you need to get on t othe police and report it!!! yes it probably will get allocated out to a small time bobby with 30 odd jobs, I had exactly this job many years back in Didcot (I didn’t investigate it, another shift did). Exactly the same as this.

The offender was a teacher who sold something small on ebay for around £10 realised that if the item was only worth a small amount then the buyer wouldn’t complain. so he was advertising goods that didn’t exist for £10 or £20 and not sending the goods. He then paid off all his debts by doing that and discovered it was easy as by now he’d paid for thousands of pounds of debts, but he got greedy. He started advertising non existent items for £100+ well this was when people cottoned on and made a complaint. To cut a long story short 1 person complained to the police, the investigation snowballed. He got arrested and charged with in excess of 300 offences, he had no previous convictions and got about 2 years in prison for it!!

So REPORT it …if it’s not suss then he won’t get charged but getting a STW beating gang together is going to do diddlysquat.

Alternatively wait a few weeks and the new ACtion Fraud department will be up and running. New department who will be dealingw ith ALL frauds so they’ll need some work.

Well done on catching the toe rag!

On PayPal gift – it aint about the money! As a seller I feel it gives me an element of protection because PayPal are rumoured always to side with the buyer and I worry that I’ll be scammed. I’d always refund if a buyer wasn’t happy with something but I think normal PayPal leaves you pretty vulnerable as a seller.

I’ve now heard back from Danny/Sean stating that he has told everyone that he’ll refund in 5 days when he can ‘get the money together’

Is this what everyone else has been told?

Bonjye you are right when I got stung it was by a buyer claiming he hadn’t got the item despite me sending recorded and having proof of postage, paypal sided with buyer as even recorded post isn’t proof buyer got the item, it isn’t called buyer protection for nowt

and to the people stating it protects the seller it doesn’t, for full seller protection gift payment or bank transfer is the only way, but then buyer has no protection, its not great either way. its all down to looking into sellers and or buyers history and taking an educated risk I guess

glad its possibly sorted tho 😉

This is what I’ve just recieved. Already got the same message as a few of you the other day.

Hello, Just wanted to update you about the reason why I could not instantly refund you.

I never planned to or even tried to scam you, I have been accused of this before, which is what has made everyone jumped to conclusions over this situation, but I spoke to the mod and proved that I refunded the person who I apparently scammed, I Was then apologized too by the mods.

When I received the payments, I ordered an item on line as I did not know that all of the buyers would immediately want refunds, however I do understand where each and everyone of you is coming from when asking for a refund, however please appreciate that I cannot instantly get the funds together to refund you guys hence the reason I was selling items in the first place, to get money, this is the reason I have said It will take around 5 Days to get the funds together to refund you guys.

Once again I’m sorry that this transaction has come to this and I will try my best to get the money together asap and make sure each and everyone of you is refunded.

I just felt I had to let you know why It will take around 5 days to refund you.

    Thanks.

Convincing yet still no explanation as to why:

He is trading under several names.
Emails with the name Jamie Banks yet my money went to Danny Madden
His Paypal address and emails have been linked to scamming for months
Why have so many people bought stuff off him and recieved no contact or items for months – Certain proof of a scam?
He is only refunding now as he knew if he didn’t I would contact the police

I can’t understand why he doesn’t give up and admit defeat.

If we get anything back then ill be surprised. Seems just lip service to me but we shall see.
5 days is Tuesday for me.

Tbh I’ve written the money off a a learning curve but without your persistence then I dare say there would have been a few more cases of this before anything was done about it.

    Thanks again Ross

No worries Gary, looks like a lot of people have written the money off however there is no reason why he should have that money not you. If he doesn’t cough up post on here and fire me an email over and i’ll keep on to him.

    Ha!
The reason they want refunds is that it turned out they weren’t buyers after all merely victims duped into sending money for goods that didn’t exist, ‘never planned’ my arse.

    Still confused.

Did he have the items available to sell in the first place?

If he did why not post?

If he didn’t then he knew he was stealing so only reason not to have funds to refund is that he thought he would get away with it.

    Rosss

He first told me that he had transfer the money back to PayPal from his bank. Suggests to me he was trying to move the money into cash ASAP to avoid comebacks.

To be clear. We ‘mods’ do not get involved in disputes. We haven’t in this case and we have never had direct communication away from the forum with this person. We have neither seen any proof of previous payments to any other forum users or sent this person any apology. In short the statement above that appears to have come from this person is nonsense as far as his assertion that he has had any involvement with ‘mods’.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting that. Hopefully we’ll get everyones money back then looks like this will have to go to the police.

    no refund yet for me…

I got the same email response as above (which clearly contradicts what Mark says in terms of mods being involved).

I too am sceptical but we’ll see. I’ll give it until Wednesday then if there is no refund I’ll consider the next step. At this stage it isn’t about the money – it’s about what is fair and reasonable behaviour.

If I were you guys, I would go to the police and make sure he gets a criminal record for what he has been up to because if for some miracle he does in fact give you guys your money back, it is almost guaranteed he will do this to others in the future, because he is clearly a liar.

just a quick point, when he says mods are you sure he means STW? could be several sites he’s refering to pinkbike etc

Ross are you ‘the bombadier’ off of the adverts, i imagine so 🙂

Fingers crossed you all get your cash back on this though peeps

It’s almost guaranteed that the reason he said it will take some time (however long it was that he said?) to pay you all back, is because he is on some other site scamming other people to be able to pay you back.

(If he is actually intending to pay you back at all)

Sort of a straight forward scam that morphs into a Ponzi scheme
