Well done Wales. You should muller us completely at Twickenham. Now we will see what Barrit and Farrell are made off. Welsh back line is immense.. If they could win their linking out they would be unstoppable.
For a nano-second I almost felt sorry for Robinson today especially with the knock on decision!
Don’t expect a walkover against England. Look what happened today – for a couple of Scottish foul ups and some borderline reffing it could have been a v. close game.
Englands defense has been good so far and remains to be tested.
Fair enough they dont look great with a moving ball and there’s not much linking through the centres but they’re doing the basics well.
Referee made some poor decisions at critical times ,clear knock on by Wales which ended in a yellow card ,line out wrongly awarded to Wales, couple of forward passes one of which lead to a try and not to allow a perfectly good try . Scotland really do seem to get the ar5e end of every decision.
If the scottish centre hadnt chucked it at the blokes feet it would take the ref out of the equation. Ref made some odd calls but wasnt too bad. scotland need to make their own luckAllowed the tackled player to hold of for hours hence the lack of turn overs
Forgot to add , since when did a referee stop you taking a quick penalty because the opposition wern’t ready…………… then allow you to tackle without retreating 10?
I’m in agreement with TJ. That scots team are capable far more than has been demonstrated. Theyve got plenty of talent there. Robbo must go if they are to start challenging. This will be his last 6N I reckon.
I was hoping the ref would have been stricter on the hands in the ruck as well – Jekins played his part in the knock on on the line at the end of the first half.
Scotland lost because they lacked composure at critical moments
The player the fans scream for come on and show how good they are. Robinson is shown to have poor judgement again. If you are good enough you are old enough. if Robinson was picking for Wales North would still be awaiting his début
Give AR (or someone) some credit for putting a rocket up Jacobson. Poor 1H, then came out like a man possessed, taking the ball at speed and crunching into tackles like Jamie Roberts.
I am glad that Scottish supporters are putting a brave face on things (although Andy Nicholl is on another planet for over optimism.) Its so much more refreshing than the (past?) England mantra of being overly negative and harsh on their own performance. I guess they became terrified of looking arrogant, but listening to Correy & Co used to make me want to smash the screen. Who was the England coach in those days?

POSTED 20 MINUTES AGO # REPORT-POST
That was the second attempt to take a quick penalty at that point. The first one would have put Lamont under the posts. Contrast that with Phillips taking a quick pen running into the back of an unsighted retreating player to earn another 10 in the first half. Why was one ok and the second not?
To be harsh on laidlaw scotland failed to play the game in the right parts of the pitch. Thry also need some centres.
Wales are prdictable without hook coming into midfield to vary the play. Shingler did a good job playing faletaus role while toby played 7 in all bar the scrums. Gethin jenkins was my man of the match until he got binned.
Lydiates linespeed and tackling technique are exceptional. Who else should of been m o match?
^^THIS!^^
He was everywhere, closing things down before they’d even opened up. A superb back row performance.
Wales rather failed for me today. OK, so it’s a win, but with that dominance, against the yellow carded team, they should have put more points on ’em. Lots more.
Didn’t the ref pull Scotland back simply because he had already indicated Time Off?
Does today (Laidlaw’s missed tackle) raise the question of whether Stand Off’s with rel slight stature can be picked for international sides. Wales targeted that channel as I am sure they will do with Hodgson.
Stature has nothing to do with it. Look at the tackling from the likes of Martin and Shane Williams, neither are huge. Also several of the French backs, like Parra, Medard and more. Hell, Wilkinson was hardly the biggest 10 in the world, but my Lord could he tackle and tackle hard!
Size isn’t important, technique is. He fluffed it.
Lets not forget Wales were down to 4th and 5th choice at lock, had Shingler who is a 6 or 5 play 7 on his debut, Ken Owens played most the game and he’s the 3rd or 4th choice hooker plus Lydiate and Gethin Jenkins playing first games after injury. Wales will struggle to hold england in the front 5 and with Flood and Tuilagi back they could be much more tricky behind. Hopefully North and Warburton will be back for the Twickenham game and AW Jones might make the bench.

Nope – . He is a fine tackler usually – in the Edinburgh / London Irish game he made (IIRC) 9 tackles including stopping the LI lock in full flight.
As a small guy you can only do classic tackles not smother tackles- go low which is a disadvantage as they can offload the ball.
CF/TJ – still even with good techinque it was still something like a 3st mismatch.
I must be going mad – i though the Jenkins incident was different to the re-called penalties. One of the commentators pointed to the Time Off thing though and it was stopped on the TV.

Don’t matter – with good technique you it becomes the bigger they come the harder thay fall. As I said in the LI game he took a huge lock down in open field.

This works even with bad technique. I once ‘tackled’ Gavin Hastings in a sevens match by dint of trying to get out of the way as he elected to sidestep rather than run right through me.
