There’s a whole host of sellers at about the £400 Mark, and I’m happy to fit myself.
Just wondered if anyone has bought a made to measure door from the numerous eBay/online companies at all?
    Anything to report?
    Ta!

Are roller doors more secure than traditional up and over doors?

Are roller doors more secure than traditional up and over doors?

I think they are, as they can’t be forced up from the outside.

Moi aussi. My current up and over need bodging once every 6 months.

Diy rollers look like a good option.

They are easy to fit , I fit garage doors for a living but anyone with diy knowledge can fit one , the rd 55 comes pre assembled..roughly takes me two hours to rip out old door and fit new

Lots of photos please I’m fitting one soon. How much vertical play on the side rails the left hand wall on my garage is 6mm out of plumb over the hight and I would rather not pack it out with packers.

    Thanks

6mm will be fine ,just make sure the axle/head is set level , the roll comes with a full box which means it fiet all need to be fitted being lintel can go completely within if you have the height or even half of it behind

What does “all in” include to make up the price difference from the original £400-ish figure?

I think the domestic department of fiscal responsibility would allow me to splurge £400 on a door, but I think the line may be drawn before £600…

I’ve a fairly standard garage door size… I opted for the safety sensor (+£125 ) . Was £480 for the normal door.

Yes, wireless safety so it’s one click close…

Interesting. Do they gain any headroom against an up and over? My vdub won’t go into the garage at the new house. Needs an extra inch of clearance as the door hangs too low under the lintel.

I suppose it depends. If you can fit the unit behind the lintel (I can) then you can have the opening to pretty much the woke brick frame… Obviously if tutu gaff to fit the unit below the lintel then you lose 300mm..
