Just switched to a Super Deluxe RCT in my Bird, as it came with the shock. It’s got bearings in both ends instead of traditional bushings. It has a sprindex adjustable spring which is not far off right, but not quite.

I picked up a nukeproof spring that was supposed to fit, and I reckon it does fit the shock and the perches but it won’t physically go over the bearing mount, the inner diameter is too narrow and as far as I can tell it’s not removable. The Sprindex does clear it.

So I guess what I need, is a slightly “wider” coil. But how do I know what to get, considering that this spring was advertised as rockshox compatible? I’m thinking that the bearing mount design came along after this spring.

Presumably I can just get a Rockshox spring? But that narrows the options down tonnes. Anyone know if other stuff fits like the Sprindex does? It used to be mostly 36 or 38mm spring but the nukeproof is supposed to fit a 38mm shock…

Is the Nukeproof one a standard weight or a lightweight one? I had several of the lightweight ones and they all fitted. The older NP ones fitted the original Vivid/Kage I believe but not sure they were 38mm ID.

If I remember right (but it may be the Marzocchi coil shock I had previously) rebound adjuster needs wound in all the way.

I think EXT springs also fit

Does the end of the shock look like this?

    If so they come out

I would be surprised if the spring won’ fit over the bearing mounts, as the threaded body sections are thicker and it clears these.

    Any pics?

We’ve run loads of the NP springs on RS shocks with bearings no problems. Maybe its a specific weight that has a very thick coil wire. Message me @ Bird if you want another lightweight coil (cheap) that definitely will work.

The bearing mount is the same on air and coil and is removable otherwise you couldn’t get the air can off, I have both SD ultimate versions and a nukeproof sls spring fitted, spring should be 38mm same as a rockshox spring, but your shock could have the aftermarket bearing kit installed then you’ll have trouble removing and reinstalling it, it looks similar to fox’s bearing mount.
