That was such good telly – doing and saying something really important in the most delicate and nuanced way and seemingly with out one word surplus or wasted.

My first thought was for her.

Yep me too, nice easy viewing. Slow TV. Tis sad, I was only last night watching them on the narrow boat talking to Sonia Rolt.

Same here (bar watching it with your nephew), don’t think I’d ever noticed him in it till this latest re-watching.

We could do with more people like him. Really enjoyed his and his wife’s canal journeys on TV. Self effacing, entertaining, kind and caring. A great example

My very first thought when I saw this on my Flipboard feed this morning was oh no, poor Pru! The clear, deep love they had for each other really shone through watching their canal programmes. Pru is going to be utterly devastated and lost without him.
Someone above said he always seemed to be a decent bloke, I actually met him once, years ago at a book launch do in London. I designed and put together a book about the so-called ‘curse of Macbeth’, for a chap called Richard Hugget, who was a bit of a ‘luvvy’, very involved in the theatrical world, and he organised a launch party for the print and publishing company I worked for, and Timothy was there. I was introduced to him because I’d put the book together, but that’s all, really. He did seem to be a pretty decent bloke, though.
