As no-one seems to have done it yet. He was so much more than ‘The Snowman’ – a great illustrator and story-teller and was one of my earliest artistic influences.

    “Boiby-boi’ (sp.) Raymond.

Yes his stories were actually quite subversive and a lot darker than if taken at face value. RIP.

    I searched

    Your first mistake

for his name and didn’t find anything, sorry.

And your second. You should have known to look for something more obscurely tangential.

Yeah me too – and The Snowman pop up (not sure if the musical page still works though) along with various of his original books.

His work still cuts through. A proper hero.

I seldom comment on RIP threads but I’ll make an exception here. His work had a real influence on me, most especially The Tinpot Foreign General and the Old Iron Woman.

    Some men were shot.

    Some men were drowned.

    Some men were burned alive.

Some men were blown to bits.

    RIP

I remember being on a long drive when When the Wind Blows came on the radio.  I just had to pull over to the side of the road and listen properly, mesmerising stuff

    Documentary was fab.
Now Ethel & Ernest, the film of his autographical book. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch it all 🥺

When the Wind Blows up there with Watership Down for a source of childhood trauma. Can’t wait to watch them both with my kids! RIP Raymond, the psychological scars will stay with me, but in a good way.

Morten Morland has a very apt tribute of sorts to Raymond Briggs,
