Yes mate, a community who looked after each other. Sadly largely lacking in modern times..

Pretty sure I got fed by them at Stonehenge. Pissing down with rain with no food. Still, arrived in style on the back of a Willys Jeep after meeting this crazy South African hippy at a service station…

Who needs PJ Harvey when you’ve got Patti Smith?

Well I’ll happily listen to both. Love the England Shakes album and just rediscovered to bring you my love.

I didn’t particularly like the Jeffrey Lewis thing

I hadn’t listened to Crass in many a year and I got intrigued by the reviews. I love it. I like the way he’s given the songs tunes and melodies. But what was stand out for me was the lyrics. Oh yeah. And I liked his updating and not having to swear every other word. Made me go buy the re-issues on cd. And a steve ignorant tee… 😳

Crass lived up the road from me. Flux of Pink Indians ‘Tube Disasters’ ‘photos were taken in and around the old central line between Ongar and Epping, as far as I recall.

New Rose. The first British punk single? Damned, Damned, Damned was their first album wasn’t it?

Umpteen Ramones albums rotate in the car, as do stuff by Devo, SLF, Clash, Pete and the Test tube babies etc.
The main issue with much of my collection is that 12″ stuff won’t travel very well and lots of it never made CD. Just found a Rezillos double album but try looking for the Revilos. Can’t get Crossing the red sea with the Adverts or anything by Slaughter and the Dogs or Erazerhead.
Funnly enough my music tastes haven’t really moved on since the 70’s except for a liking for 80’s surf punk such as the Surfin lungs and even their early stuff hasn’t made CD.,

She doesn’t get much better than that!

You need to go past Mikes bit to the song. But this kinda sums it all up for me.

Anyone remember Nomeansno? What a band!

…and one final thing; I have probably mentioned elsewhere before, but my very best childhood friend is Gang Of Fours’ current bass player! Has been for the past 5 years. Know the band personally now (though the 2 main men are about 2 decades older than my best mate.) He has a mountain bike, too. But it’s an Apollo.

    TOP THAT! 8)

I can’t top it – but the guitarist in one of my best mate’s bands (Pubic Fringe) is also the current guitar player for the Fall. He’s number 187 or something…

I still listen to most of the stuff I was listening to when I was ‘younger’.
Crass, Conflict, Subhumans, Flux Of Pink Indians, etc.
loads of US hardcore stuff too, Dead Kennedys, Misfits, Nomeansno.

It all relevant to me now, even if I don’t do too much smashing the system any more :-/

Can’t believe some of that stuff is 30-35 years old now. Stop Making Sense on the turntable now, 19-freakin-84. Public Image fresh as a daisy. Siouxsie and the Banshees, marvellous. Never tire of the Buzzcocks, burble, burble. Live at the Electric Circus. I had a tweet off of John Shuttleworth the other day 🙂

The currently available UK Decay CD has ‘For Madmen only’ plus singles/EPs including the incredible ‘Rising from the dead’ and ‘Unwind’. Definitely worth looking into. Sadly no Dresden ‘though.

What about Furyo and In Excelsis? Now that’s getting obscure..!

Cheetham Hill library gigs were always a winner – no alcohol licence but always an ‘interesting’ brew on offer.
Trying to walk back to Moston with your brains leaking out of your ears was always a challenge 😀
