And find a 96BCD ring with whatever weird offset Shimano decided to use that year.

These cranks don’t have an offset BCD, unlike the XTM8000 etc.

Deore double is 39.99 and that uses 104bcd (easier to find chainrings), and since it’s a double will work well with boost wheels, or with non-boost if you space the chainring inboard a bit with some spacers.

Just need to find a cheap triple front mech now and I’m sorted. Cheers.
