If you have the print version of issue 136 you may already have spotted the printing error that has occurred in the Future of MTB article by Dean. We are investigating how this has happened and when I have an answer I’ll report back here.

We are absolutely gutted that this has happened. We planned this anniversary issue 9 months in advance and prepped our printer about the technical difficulties it would present. We checked and double checked everything before we signed off on the print – even to the point of replicating the entire mag using post-it notes to ensure everything was the right way round.

We are really sorry your anniversary issue is not perfect. We will be reproducing the affected article online in the next day or so. The feature is fine in the digital versions of the issue.

I’ll keep you all updated as we learn more.

My mag just arrived…after opening the nice, new paper packaging and admiring both covers I went straight to find the printing error! Couldn’t see any problems and can’t wait to enjoy the latest issue. Congrats on 20 years and don’t worry about the (invisible) error – still love your work!

I spotted it, a missing word in a sentence, but I also do a lot of proof reading in my line of work so tend to spot things like that.
I do remember thinking you’ll be gutted when someone tells you about it, but couldn’t bring myself to do it and ruin a great anniversary issue.

It was a lot more than a missing word. We calculate it was actually 1588 missing words from one article.

Anyway, the full article is now online here for you, with our apologies to print readers..

Thanks for making the article available on here Mark. I was really getting into that and then it just sort of finished and I flicked back and forth through the mag a couple of times before remembering that this had been mentioned.

Real shame – the issue is superb otherwise and a real credit to Singletrack (now World)’s impact and contribution to the sport.

Ah, ok, I haven’t read it all yet, that was all I noticed.

Printing error? half the magazine is upside-down!

Beauty of online + print. Makes it a non issue compared to a few years ago.

I am slightly confused – particularly about where Page 48 fits in directly following the chunk of missing article. Does that follow on from something else, it seems interesting enough although lacking context…

@seriousrikk, page 48 is page 50 on the other side of the magazine, part of ‘the future of mountain biking’ article

Aha, thanks. I’d probably have got there in the end when I get round to reading that bit.

@aide, thanks for that, I was really confused when reading Dean’s article in the magazine last night as I had this serious and very real Deja Vu moment and assumed I must have read it online. Now it all makes sense, sort of! Mind you not surprised there are mistakes when asking a printer to print half the magazine upside down! 🙂
