just had a mate round asking me to fit an e13 DRS dual rin chain device (bb or ISCG mount) to his 2010 carbon stumpjumper, which in addition to lots of carbon weave and shiny white bits, also features a press fit shimano BB with an XT crank in it.

So it won’t go on, as there are no chainguide tabs and no way of securing the backplate against the frame with the bottom bracket cups as you would with a HT2 arrangment.

Which got me wondering if anyone already does or is in the process of developing a way of mounting a chainguide to press fit bb’s. Particularly with so many folk going single ring plus 10 speed 11-36 cassette and minimalist ‘xc’ chainguide: presumably you won’t be able to put a single ring xc guide on any of the current press fit bb frames?

    Any solutions out there?

Seat tube mounted guide. If its not got any other chain device mounts maybe the designers are thinking you probably shouldnt be doing anything that requires one?

Alas, this carbon stumpy has an offset and non-round ‘seat tube’ (ie not full length).

I’m not a fan of and don’t see the point of dual ring chainguides personally, but I’d have thought a 28lb 5-6 inch all mountain muncher supplied with 180mm rotors and 2.3″ tyres would be just the sort of bike that compulsive bike twiddlers wanted either dual ring chainguides or 1×10 gears on.
