My current cell phone is a Nokia 6300 (I think). It has been gash, and now has a cracked screen and the display is going all wibbly.

I am going to phone up my mobile provider tomorrow and cuss them. I may also ask them for a new phone if I can be bothered.

What are the current preferences for a portable telephone for a moderately clumsy and active individual with no particular enthusiasm for in-built gadgets? I'm only really interested in phoning and texting, although a camera, radio and the ability to surf for porn do now seem to be standard.

Before the current disaster of a device I had a Nokia 5500 which was OK until it stopped working. Before that I had a 5100. Before that I had a thing which was sheathed in rubber and had a built-in clitoral stimulator-style aerial.

    Any thoughts?

    Ta 🙂

New Crackberry Curve is remarkably good for luddites, as it's all very logical.

Just put an 8gb memory card in mine and am using it as a mp3 player as well, but as a simple phone it's very impressive, even if you miss out all of the other functions.

Oh, and the little trackball is a lot like flicking the bean, so you can practice while you use the Wifi to look for some gentertainment.

Is the 6300 the one with the stainless steel back? If so mine has been bombproof and only got retired due to getting a cheap iPhone. Still use it at work/running and if i know i am going to get messy.

6300 is what I've just replaced. All stainless body, basic camera and music player but otherwise little else. Very simple interface.

Available in sliding and non sliding form. I got it over 18months ago and its still available in most shops.

    Are you sure CFH?

They made me take one of these last week & I really can't get the hang of the QWERTY layout – I prefer the old ABC system my old Nokia had

It's a full keyboard, just like the one you're typing with on here. What's to get the hang of?

Other than that, the operating system is just really clear and logical, which suits me!

Maybe I have a different one – it's just like a normal phone keypad with the same button operating 2 or more letters

    EDIT – here

I can't swear to what mine is, but I think it's a 6300. It definitely has a stainless steel back, and a very cracked screen. 🙂

Ah, that's the Pearl. Have one of those for work, not as good as the Curve IMO. Keyboard is indeed a little annoying on that one. Curve has a full QWERTY

A Sonim XP something looks quite plausible. I don't actually want to run it over with a truck you understand, just get a year's use out of it without it randomly breaking. 🙂

Nokia 1100. Ridiculous battery life, does calls and texts, and has a torch. 200 million people can't be wrong 😀

I'm sure someone has an app to tell you what phone is ideal for you BD 🙄

Nokia 6700/6720/6730. Small, light, good battery life good camera, GPS, etc etc. Got one coming tomorrow – wanted to go back to something simpler that just does phone, text, browse, camera really well and easy to carry in a trouser pocket
