Off on hols in a couple of weeks and was wondering if I got an external DVD player to plug into the laptop (no optical drive) and just stick in a film on DVD will it just work out of the box? Is there native software on win 10 to play it or will I need to download/ pay for a player.

It’s been years but I remember this sort of thing used to be a pain in the arse downloading codex drivers and all that stuff. I was hoping these days it would be plug and play.

Just asking as I haven’t bought the dvd player yet. I’m guessing anything that’s windows compatible would do the trick?

A copy of VLC with libdvdcss installed will sort you out!

Yeah, what xora said – VLC should work.
