I’d like to confirm to Bunnyhop that these were two separate occasions. There have obviously been many more at various locations.

I repeat my assertion that he’s ****ing hopeless!!

I’ve only got so much time this weekend as got to do family duties as well. Its going to be most of the day and I can squeeze a good run in in the morning and be home by 12 if I get out early instead.

I’d like to join you if that’s OK – will either be on something sensible or embarrassingly over-biked, depending on what I manage to bolt back together!

looking forward to you joining us Phil. Also, bikes disassembling themselves mid ride is something of a pootle tradition.
As the new boy its expected that you will either have forgotten vital kit (memorably someone once forgot their bike), or have a major mechanical. And buy the beers after.

Looks like I should be able to make this….

Sole South West STW chapter REPRESENT!

Though if anyone can bring a 10mm allen key and some threadlok that would be grand- I can almost guarantee my cranks will fall off otherwise…

    Looking forward to it 🙂

Will I get laughed off the mountain if I turn up on a 29er? 🙂 If not I might tag along…

no probs nbt…so long as it comes back in a usable state 🙂 it’s a 21″ hardtail. I’ve spread the word to a few weekend warriors living in my street so there may even be a few more for the list.

21″ is too big for me, I ride a 17″. cheers though!

BWD, you mentioned a few days ago you may ride from glossop, how far are we talking roughly from glossop to edale? It might save the hassle of loading the car…but then again I’m not exactly in peak physical condition (I’m sure sambob can second that)…

I think it’s about 8 miles Awesome-O, could be well off though.

cheers sambob, that would probably put a pretty big dent in the days energy reserves…

According to my calculations, it’s about 12.25 miles on the basis of riding to Hayfield on the road, then up Highgate Lane, over South Head and the Roych then up Rushup and down Chapel Gate. There’s a fair bit on the road, so I figure a couple of hours.

There is a little bit of climbing, but it’s all quite steady. So if you ride back after it’s an extra 24 miles or so, but extendable if that’s not enough. Or less maybe if you go over Jacob’s, though I’ve not mapped that. [about the same that way and back over Middle Moor]

You could always ride over to Chinley and hop on the train there with Sam – Hayfield/Highgate Lane/back road down to Chinley.

add 15 miles of the ride to that

I’d best bring a full tool kit then. Being a pootle virgin, you can guarantee that if anything’s going to go wrong, it’ll go wrong for me!

a full pootle toolkit consists of a big screwdriver and some jelly babies.

Hello breakfast on the first climb 20 minutes later then…

Wouldnt be the worst thing I’ve done on a STW Peaks ride, I once stalled on jaggers clough (38t 1×9 gearing!) and pushed someoen off the edge!

NBT – Cheers, that would be grand- save me throwing a wobbly…

Thisisnotaspoon – if u spot a red vw transporter hiding in the corner of the car park tonight, that’ll be me, pulling the same trick as you. A bacon sarnie at 9am would be wonderful, thankyou. Knock loudly…

Oh go on then, I’m in. It’s 10:00 at the Station? What’s the planned ride – just to save me having to go through the hora the hora of the previous six pages.

The route’s a closely guarded secret but about 15 miles, apparently. Or twelfty if you live round this neck of the woods.
