Anyone tried these? I’m running just the standard shimano ring upfront as someone told me there were issues with the chain dropping on the new 1×11 stuff due to the asymmetric chain. I fancy the idea of the new oval chain rings.

Any advice, good or bad please?

Running the 42 cassette with an absolute black 30 oval ring and shimano chain (think it’s the 105 level 11 speed chain, with kmc quicklime)

No problems other than the chain dropping down off the 42 when back pedalling but seen quite a few reports of this and doesn’t seem to affect actually riding as rarely back pedal

    yep – running this combo
Id say you can run oval on any 1x setup

No issues with my works components 32 oval and KMC chain, including pedalling backwards.

will give it a proper hammering next weekend to decide if I want a chain-guide, but no drops yet.

Another running AB 32t oval ring with XT 42 and Shimano chain. My chain also drops down the block if I backpedal in the 42.
