I've got four bags of British Gypsum multi finish plaster left by the previous occupants which says use by November 2011. I'm about to skip them unless it's likely to still be useable?

Nah bin it. Tried using old plaster before and it went off super quick.

As above. That old and it'll go off on the trowel!

Bin it.  I don’t even try to use stuff that been hanging around for a couple of weeks or more.

I'm glad that's the consensus as it's at the bottom of a skip now...

I was about to say you’ll know if it won’t stick to your finger...

Too late but you should have tried it, I had some left over from a job and put it in a plastic paint tub. Around eight years later it was fine.

never had any that old but i usually keep a bit of old plaster in the hope it'll go of quick for any really small patching jobs, problem is you never know how it will go. have had it where i couldn't even get a trowel full out of the bucket.

old plasterer once told me peeing in it will send it quicker but never fancied trying that one.
