With the “other hobbies” thread I saw a fair few model chopper/car/boat responses so I know theres a good chance of an answer here….

I’ve been rebuilding an old electric buggy, replacing all the bushings with bearings etc etc but found both my 7.2v packs have given their last (they were last used about 8 years ago, and were tired then). Add to that the fact that I’ve also got a broken bit of rigging on my yacht (also model!), can anyone help me find a decent online supplier of parts? I keep finding shops online that specialise in one type of model, or one make etc, but no large-scale bulk buyers with decent prices. If there are no such large warehouse-style shops, where can I get a good deal on decent

    Rigging parts such as turnbuckles?

7.2v 2000mA+ packs – you’ll find loads on ebay, there are some big sellers on there

I know, I’ve seen fleabay but the cheap ones are “3800mA” for £10, from hongkong and then people measure them to be 1000mA, or they’re overpriced at £27 for an 1800. Theres seems no ryhme or reason on there, I just want a shop with an array of decent batteries at an array of prices so i can choose my compromise! I might try some from eurobatteries.com, they’ve been good to me in the past but have a small selection in that field.

Used sussex model centre before – Can only praise the service I got there. Was a while ago, but all went smoothly. Bought online from them, so I can’t say what the ‘walk in and browse’ experience is like.

for stuff I want to buy in person I go to either of my LMSs in Bingley & Crossgates (E Leeds)
