Just watching the turnout reports coming through and thinking, in a nutshell, jesus **** christ. It’d be nice if we could just pause it all here for a month or so and say “Yes and No voters, look what you did together”.

Quite, it’s something when you think 78% (my local) turnout is poor

adding another level of politics and electioneering to the mix doesn’t make sense to me

except we’re not. We currently have Scottish, Westminster and Brussels representation. With independance we lose Westminster (which, in case you missed it, is the point of the referendum) so one less level of politics. Having got the basics wrong, I didn’t bother with the rest of your post

    O voters of Scotland
When will we see your like again
    That debated and cried for
Your wee bit hill and glen
    And stood against them
    Bland David’s army
    And sent him homeward
    Tae think again

Regardless of the result in a few hours,a message has been sent.
Well done to all you folk that stood up to be counted.
Well done for caring about more than the day to day .
Most of all, well done for putting some great passion in to politics.
    Thank you

Yes ,I have had a few malts 🙂

Which was referring back to the point the John Redwood made

Conservative MP John Redwood tells the BBC’s Andrew Neil at Westminster that, if there is a “No” victory, “every power that goes to Scotland must be matched by the same power coming to England”.

and the desire for regional assembles that some think will come from a Yes vote or a No vote and any more transfer of power to one region over the next. It was bout the potential for a more federal UK. If you read up the page a bit the context is all there, I could have quoted it all but it seemed a bit pointless for people who were reading the whole thread not just points in it.

If you had read the rest of his post you might have perhaps realised that he was talking about “separate regions” not Scotland.

Not a big surprise there, but such a large vote against would raise interesting questions if the result is Yes.

ahh best to discuss in here.

Does it go on total number of Yes to No or on number of constituent wins?

Total number of Yes to No.

ah I am guessing the total number of individual votes: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/events/scotland-decides/results

Which would be expected for this type of vote I guess. (am tired)

    edit: as I thought. ta

Six f***ing hours in the BBC studios, and I got about 30 seconds on air! I’ve now got a very numb arse, can’t sleep, so going to fill the dishwasher and drink lots of homebrew.

I’ll leave you with this thought: TV presenters and politicians look very different in 3D.

I was kind of hoping for some compares between the early results and the polling for that area, that’d have been cool.

Right, I’m off to bed, looking forward to waking up in the early hours of a better talk like a pirate day nation

Just remembered I have a haggis in the freezer and a bottle of Innis & Gun in the cupboard. I am thinking it would either be a good farewell meal or a glad you are staying meal this weekend. Either way I win 😀

Hang on, “Either way I win” is a bit Alex Salmond 😯

Not looking good at all for Yes.

Id’d go with it’s looking better for No than it is for Yes, as it’s all about the overall numbers a couple of big ones each way could swing it. Orkney was always listed as No Way. Still easier to watch the results roll in during the day here.

Glasgow turnout of 75% is a bit poor by this vote standards. Possibly good for the no camp given the number of voters?

Seems to be the big question, some saying a high turnout favours the No as more people are rallied to oppose than to change. Also the closeness of the polls may have persuaded more to turn out to make sure again is that more likely of the Yes or No’s. Potentially the undecided who are still undecided would prefer No to Yes so will vote No due to the tightness of the polls – most were saying 6-9% undecided? Thats a lot when it was within 6% before.

Western Isles return a Y47% N53%, that was one the Yes side would have been expecting the opposite.

I think the rough number is about 2,100,000 to win but make that 2.2m to be safe.
    So far
    NO 49,535 57.85
    YES 36,097 42.15
    Long way to go
