Looking for a bike with a little assistance whilst keeping it a bit lighter than a full fat bike.

I have a dodgy knee and whilst cycling is helping with it’s strength I just need that little bit of help on the climbs.

Seen a 2023 rise H20 for £3384. This is the slightly upgraded version with Fox 34s and XT bits and bobs. Just seems pretty good value compared to anything else.

Can’t see many bikes near that budget. The Fuel EXE seems in the same sort of category but the entry level model doesn’t look to have great components.

anything else worth looking at? Anyone own a rise and have any complaints?

Its a good price cause there is a new model replacing it just as soon as they can get them out of the factory. I have had a H15 Rise for 2.5 years and have zero regrets

It is brand new? I wouldn’t buy one 2nd hand as warranty not transferable

Yeah it’s brand new. Upgraded was probably the wrong wording! It’s the spec with the Fox fork and shimano XT.

I think you will struggle to find a better bike for the money.

Obviously be aware of all the shimano motor scares , and it appears many have frame bearing issues, big people can find it flexi , but that’s the interweb . Lots of people very happy with them too

I only find mine flexi when the linkage comes undone, otherwise it’s fine.

Orbea have sent me the new version of the linkage too for when I get around to it.

It’s worth doing a search.  I think there’s been more threads on Orbea Rises recently than pretty much any subject.

Orbea have sent me the new version of the linkage too for when I get around to it.

And on the new one it comes undone every 10-15 mls and is in a bugger of a place to get a socket in tight and torque properly out on the trail. Frame is just in the way so really needs the shock undoing to extend the rear triangle enough to get allen key in straight.  Doable on the trail but risk of round the bolt due to the angle you can get a mini socket in.

I’m one of those “internet haters” but my experience, get something else designed to work around mud n slop.

    i’d probably try canyon next.

I haven’t read about any problems with the new style linkage. Is this a common thing?

I’ve had my new linkage fitted for nearly a year now , zero problems here .

There has been a lot of discussion on the Rise recently. Those threads linked above give quite a lot of info and real world feedback.

Yeah, the linkage can be a problem but it’s a problem that already has a solution.  If you buy one, remove the splined axle, add some bearing retaining compound (a little bit!), put it back together again and forget about it.

There’s a lot of negativity around Shimano motors on here. I don’t necessarily think they’re any less reliable than any of the others, it more that they can’t be repaired out of warranty that’s the issue. Mine needed a new motor at 1500 miles but it was done under warranty in a fairly painless way.

I’d say an H20 for £3384 is an absolute steal. I can’t imagine getting better value and I think you’d struggle to beat that spec for the money even second hand.

    Hope not!

Bike shop fitted my new linkage aling with the new battery. It came lose in first 10mls then again 15mls later. No locktite on it though.

tightened it back in the man cave but came lose again next ride.

Took it apart this time, found bearings had also started griding in new linkage after that first ride.  sorted bearings and back together with loctite. Not had chance to test. Hopefully 3rd time lucky as sick to the back teeth of this bike. “A right lemon”

Love mine. 2.5 years zero regrets H30 with no battery/motor issues. I’ve changed brakes, and the suspension was always too firm, but your improved suspension/brakes will cover that. Feels like a super price- if such a thing is possible on a £3k bicycle.

For balance – just coming up to 2000km on my 2 year old H15 – still on original linkage and have had to strip/rebuild a few times in the 2 years. Lower pivot bearings twice in that time. My riding isn’t hammering ‘enduro’ trails every weekend though – plenty winter riding exploring the hills of Southern Scotland and Cumbria so it’s not had a ‘precious’ life.

Great warranty support through MTB Monster (bought online) – new linkage here ready to swap and dropper replaced. Also had a freehub replaced but that was upgraded from alloy to steel by Orbea.
