Nukeproof nueron v2 wheel

Hi all.

My son’s starting to cost me a packet and take up all my free time fixing his bike up after regular crashes.

He’s now managed to disintegrate his relatively new rear wheel, snapping the derailleur off in the spokes.

He bent one spoke amd then in freewheeling it home he’s managed to loosen half the spokes in the wheel.

I’ve ordered some new spokes.

The driveside spokes are mainly tight but several none ds spokes are very loose.

Does anyone happen to know the spoke tensions for these neuron v2 29inch rear wheels? The 148 axel width ones.

I don’t know this – but presuming you’re talking about using a spoke tension meter, you could take a quick average of the ‘tight’ spokes and use that as a guide?

Just rebuild it all. It’ll haunt you if you don’t.

If it’s that bad, the tight spokes won’t read right as the wheel is totally unbalanced. Very subjective but I’d say my Nukeproof wheel was on the softer side of tension.

Isn’t spoke tension dependant on the spoke type not the wheel?
So look at the recommended tension for the spoke type.

?? just tighten the spokes so the rim is true. drive side will be tighter than non drive. try and get tension even ish both sides. this may not be totally feasible but closer the better. you dont need new spokes unless one is actually snapped.

both my big bike rear wheels are on their second rim. same spokes. same large jump cases. the eeb is due another rim when i can be arsed as it has some flat spots.

pretty much all the wheels i`ve ever bought (quite a few!) have needed re-tensioning after a few ‘enthusiastic’ rides (general bimbling around doesnt count)

I’ll get a measure of the tightest ones and the front wheel, and just have a go at it and see what happens.

Managed to totally rebuild an old carbon rim up a few years ago, not having a clue what I was doing, and it’s never had a problem. Think I just got lucky.
