Curious as to user experiences of Nord’s VPN – Seems the reviews are unquestionably good with minimal impact on BB speed.

Anything to be weary of?

I’m in Germany and signed up to nordvpn with some black Friday deal.

Used mostly to watch BBC or Netflix. Can take a few connections with the BBC till it works, but very rarely able to download. Streaming works.

C4 doesn’t want to play ball. Whether this is a nordvpn thing or C4 have sussed how to kill vpn streaming I don’t know.

Works well on my phone. Can always access UK sites without any noticeable slow down.

NordVPN user here, as above, BBC works in foreign countries most of the time, C4 or Amazon Video does not.

On holiday NordVPN is turned on all the time and I do not ever notice slow speeds. I would recommend NordVPN and have been using it for at least 3 years.

I prefer trustzone to nord vpn but never heard a bad thing about nord vpn.

Expressvpn user here, can’t say if it is any better or worse than the above, but I have no problems with it. Not sure if it works with C4 iirc c4 doesn’t work with adblocker and I am unwilling to switch that off.

I like them a lot, don’t pay full price as they seem to have “3 years for the price of one” offers pretty regularly (which often get mentioned via boingboing)

Very easy to use compared to rolling your own (Their mobile program is basically a nice easy interface for openvpn). Windows use is easy to set up and can be made automatic for non techy family members.

If one server gets blocked for some reason, just try another (and they have lots, all over the place).

Occasionally when using a server from the UK list, my youtube adverts will change to german or dutch, but thats the only negative comment I’ve got 🙂

Based in (I think) Peru? or somewhere else legally insulated from UK snooping. Which may be more important when UK Gov realises the the porn age ban thing is totally ineffective and outlaws vpns “for the children, you monster!”

Can’t comment on Nord VPN, but like MSP above I’m using ExpressVPN. Worked a treat streaming the C4 live F1 coverage in November last year from overseas, although I did have to turn off adblocker to view the stream as C4 appear to have closed all the workarounds to adblocking their site. I’ll put up with it for an hour or two of entertainment in an airport lounge though!
