I’m looking to play an old Nintendo DS game “Advance Wars” on my phone. As I understand it, I download an emulator from Google Play (happy to pay,) then the ROM from somewhere else.

Is there a way I can minimise the risks of doing this? I’m a bit nervous about downloading software onto my phone from an unsecure source.

The ROM will run in the emulator as a virtual machine. We do a similar thing with a raspberry pi and it’s fine.

We used to have a SNES emulator on a works PC, whole nightshifts passed playing Tiger Woods, ah, them were the days!

I have been using my Nvidia Shield a lot with emulation recently – it’s a great way to play ROMs on the TV and handles most older systems really well in terms of performance. ARCBrowser is a good front end to make browsing ROMs user friendly
