Well, normally I just wouldn’t open a thread about Top Gear but you did say haters assemble. 😂

Well, if I’d said “Haters ignore” you all still wouldn’t have been able to resist 🤣🤣

It’s a no from me. It’s had its day and promoting fast cars (in fact most cars) , using up the earths resources should be banned.
    Grumpy bunnyhop.

Based on that logic then you better stop reading the mag and website as its fundamentally paid for by members and advertisers wanting you to buy stuff. As for the product reviews then your in real trouble.

I really enjoyed the episode and thought the temple at the end was spectacular, even if it is a waste of the earths resources 🙂

I want to like it, but I find Paddy and Freddie just a bit annoying. Perhaps one of them would work, but with two it becomes a bit…dare I say it, Northern?

I like Matt Le Blanc, not all of it, he wasn’t great in person, but the set pieces between him and Harris were hilarious.

I agree with an earlier comment that it’s lacking something.

I haven’t watched TG for years as I didn’t like the old presenters. The current trio seem much better, I don’t know if its a new production team, but even if the format is old / tired, I find it much more enjoyable with these 3, and even my wife likes it!

I used to love TG but going off it more and more.

YouTube now covers off any car review you could want, 6 months before TG can broadcast it. So therefore, reviews on TG are pointless (even super cars)

Which leaves doing something different and outside the budget of what can be seen on YouTube. That means road trips and prank stuff.

Unfortunately, I think the script writers have run out of ideas on both of the above so its just all a bit predictable.

Ps shouldn’t this thread be closed as there have been previous TG threads?

Lol. There’s about 400+ politics/royal threads that are all basically the same thread.

Watched it this evening and was a little bit disappointed. Really does feel like they waste a lot of the opportunities the places the go to offer them in their chase for cheap laughs. Still enjoy Harris’ solo bits though so it’ll do as Sunday filler TV for a few weeks.

It’s a different team now from when CHM were there, they took them all with them to do the Grand Tour. The new team aren’t anywhere near as good as the old lot.

Three of the biggest **** to ever be given air time.

Edit – I’m thinking of the ones who are now on Amazon! Clarkson, the one with the hair and the hyperactive dwarf.

I emplore you not to watch Question of Sport. McGuiness. Thats all you need to know, do yourselves a favour and remember it as it was.

Paddy and Freddie are unwatchable. It’s just witless waffling. They’re like any couple of lairy muppets from any pub in the country.

Fine for Saturday night on itv or daytime adverts for payday loans and online bingo but it’s not for me.

Given the amount of use the fast forward button got, it would seem I quite liked that episode, so it’s a thumbs up from me.

That Pagani monstrosity has to be one of the most pointless and vulgar vehicles I’ve ever had the misfortune to behold. Suits McGuiness perfectly.

Looks like it could damn good fun to drive though.

First time I’ve liked the idea of a Porsche over a Ferrari.

And although it was wrapped up in another silly stunt, those microcars looked interesting for urban use.

So, cars reviewed ranged from £3 million down to £11k, some were electric/hybrid, but haters gonna hate.

Decent enough episode, the city cars thing was a bit silly but raised some decent points-the Citroens width for example.

The 296 is the first propery nice looking Ferrari is a long while IMO, better without the weird stripe though and the GT4 would still be my choice.

Loved the Citroen Ami for a while, Carver looked a laugh though!

The Pagani was horrible. An absolute dinosaur.

Would love a Caver though as a commuter.

Quite enjoyed the German/Austrian piece but the rest was a bit Meh.

Autobahn: there is a bit on my commute to work but its often got heavy traffic. It’s straight after the Swiss border so often a bit of a drag strip. Old Autobahn, and there is still a lot, is properly intense. Two lanes, trucks, caravans and stuff then in the other it’s a free for all. Then there is the Elephant Races when a truck takes 10k to overtake another truck….

The issue with buying a Cayman is, no matter how good it is in absolute terms there is always the comment “Ah, the 911’s little brother”.

I’ve loved Carvers for years – I’d love to have a go in/on one.

I’ll bear that in mind next time I’m contemplating buying one 🙂

I’m a bit Meh🤷‍♂️ when it comes to super/HyperCars but that Ferrari was beautiful! Kinda reminds me of a Muira in its flowyness/curves. I wonder how much trade in they’d give me for my 18year old Berlingo?

TBH you’ll always get that, there’s people who drive cars for the driving experience and them who just buy the labels.

The boxster/cayman configuration was always nicer than heavy ass.

100% – I thought exactly the same myself.

I thought the Ferrari had a whiff of kit car about it… 2 episodes in ans so much so dull. I don’t mind Flintoff, like Harris and can’t abide Peter Kay’s chum.

It’s background noise in our house not must watch TV.

I fast forwarded the entire thing apart from the bit about the small electric cars.

Not sure if I’m just getting old, or just bored of watching pointless super cars.

I think that the World has moved on. Watching someone drive about in a £3,200,000 waste of resources whilst I’m there in fleece lined trousers because I don’t want to put the heating on was so remote that I couldn’t care less. Especially when the Porsche was, in my opinion, better.

The 296 is very pretty. Nice simple styling. In a single colour it looks stunning.

looks a bit like a Muira (which is not a bad thing)

Personally, I think the Ferrari looks like a squashed Corvette. Something about the front lights is just wrong but I wouldn’t mind a go in one.

Paganni – a vulgar trinket. Harris’ comment that he was too scared to drift it said it all.

Cayman just shows that there’s a diminishing return on “investment” in cars.

The electric feature was actually really interesting, and the Carver was an absolute revelation. I wanted one back in the day when they were BMW powered with a funky parralever front-end but this cut price version looks like a fabulous city car. They didn’t make much of the great design features of the Ami but it did show up its Achilles heel on the width and the ease with which it just became traffic like anything else.

Actually a great episode I thought.

For me, it’s just that Top Gear doesn’t do its job that well any longer. 3 great cars, great scenery, great production values and what do we get – a bit of scripted banter, too much time messing around on a small track that looked like a dual carriageway, and some standard wheel spinning and smoking. I think it’s interesting that Whitehouse and Mortimer’s programme, for example, can make a fishing lake anywhere in the UK look beautiful, but Top Gear struggle to make the Alps look interesting. And they have no real enthusiasm for the cars they are driving. Compare what they do to this:

(Henry Catchpole would seem to be a MTBer judging by his bookshelf. He used to write for Cyclist mag iirc.)

Last weeks feature on the rimac made the pagani piece obsolete. Suits Paddy McG though. Vulgar.

This episode wasnt interesting. too formulaic – my car is the best etc etc, take it round a small track etc etc, some mountain pass with hairpins etc

Another good episode, the city cars in Paris was interesting and that Porsche was stunning and made the Pagani and Ferrari look pointless

The capabilities of that Range Rover are extraordinary.

Yes, another good one. Very few people need a luxury barge with the capabilities of that Range Rover, but bloody hell it was impressive.

Interesting to see all the problems with the F1 road car as well

Thought it strange they didn’t mention the atrocious LR unreliability though.
