Are there any details on this, ie.
    boost or non boost?

That’s a good question. The 650b/700c version was definitely not boost. I don’t remember anything in the various threads on them that settled it for sure. The last thing I recall was a couple of months ago, don’t know if anything has changed.
Our Bootzipper project is nearly ready to launch.

    Final tweaks on graphics.

They will come in 650B and 29in versions.

650B model takes our gravel wheelsets and so is 12×142 rear, 100×12 front, rigid only, 405mm fork length, non boost drivetrain.

29er is 148×12 rear, 110x15mm front, 440mm fork, boost drivetrain.

Both have post mount frames and forks and 44mm head tubes

Should be available in a couple of weeks though.

Any announcement on pre order or pricing or indeed Max tyre clearance?

Brant, please may we have some geometry info for the Boot Zipper and some info/pics of the fork.

Please tell me it looks like the old Accutrax ones and is nice and fat.

I seem to remember reach is pretty similar to the Big Dog.
But head angle is a bit steeper.

    “chainstay mounted brake”

One of the things I don’t like about my 26″ Inbred is the lack of space for an Avid BB7. Wonder if there’s room on a Bootzipper, with the curved chainstays?

Any news on an ETA and pricing?

Given the timestamp on those photos, they must be on a boat coming into dock soon.

You would hope so. They haven’t left yet.

But we will be selling them as soon as we can of course 🙂

The forks were on the website for £75 yesterday, but I think that was in the sale.

    They’re available: https://www.planetx.co.uk/s?q=bootzipper

Offer codes give £100 off the frame and £198 off the full bike…

That’s the 29er geometry as the one on the site is incorrect.

How would it ride compared to a 26″ Inbred with a 440mm fork, or a TD-1? What size rubber in each?

A bit less head down than a td1.

    You’ll love it.

The website says the max tire size for the 29er is 2.4, is this correct?

    Will it fit a 2.1″ Smoke/Dart combo? 😉

    No

It’ll take bigger, but I’m not getting into an arms race.

29 x 2.4 is the spec tyre size. And tyre sizes area nominal dimension due to manufacturing tolerance and whatever.

It’ll take bigger, especially up front.

What are the offer codes? I fancy a frame and fork combo.

Looks like a very attractive alternative to a Surly dirt road tourer! I want to run this with real fenders. I see fork crown isn’t drilled for a fender. I guess I could use an expanding bolt and attach fenders to mid fork eyelets.

But what about the rear? I see two fender mounting holes on the seat stays. Are the chain stay and/or seat stay bridges drilled?

    Reading the description

    First this:

    Tough and durable

    Then this:

Paint finish is low tech and corrosion will occur due to it being made out of steel.

May be ridden in the winter, on salted roads. Are you just trying to say that steel rusts (a fact I’m aware of), or that the Raw Gloss Phosphate finish is particularly bad at keeping rust away?

    Thanks!

Thanks! My brain has almost adapted itself to this sentence. Would it be similar to raw lacquer Brompton? They mention the phosphate treatment. I’m OK with rust as long as it isn’t structural.

The Big Dog gets a Gloss Orange alternate color. Any plans for a painted Bootzipper?

Basically, to be clear, it’s a raw frame with a clear laquer and it will rust.

Some people freak out about this. So we have been really clear about what you can expect to happen.

Chromoly doesn’t rust badly in a structural sense unless you ride it in the sea or salt.

If you do then get it painted, wipe down with an oily rag or whatever.

No plans for any additional paint finishes. In fact we have plans for more raw frames.

Excellent, thanks. Strange question perhaps, but is there a chainstay bridge? P-clamps for fender mounting is a possibility.
