We’ve been saving as Mrs YP wants rid of our boring composite grey front door, to be replaced with a new solid oak door and frame. (Oak to complement many of the other fixtures and fittings). We want something fairly contemporary as the house isn’t very old.
I’ve looked at numerous sites and just see boring factory produced products. Do I need to get a joiner to make one, or is there a company that will produce something of quality that will outlast me and perhaps the house?
I don’t mind spending if we get what we want.

    Where are you?

You ideally want a bespoke door company, but they generally sell Aluminium, composite  or plastic doors do you’ll want a quite specific  high end firm.

    Or.

Find a decent local joiner to make exactly what you want, will be more expensive, mine cost me £1600 for frame and door

We had an oak door…. Always changed shape according to the seasons.

Changed it for an aluminium door with side windows (as part of bigger alterations) – never looked back.

More secure, closes exactly right every time, is warmer and never needs painting/sealing/oiling.

    A bit more spendy though.
